Since I’m a tax payer, I’m paying myself.

If you have homeowners insurance you’ll be rejected.

Only initially. We have insurance and I was un-rejected today.

They're using existing software, so it is going to reject you at first due to them not normally giving assistance if you have insurance. However, this $500 is for anyone no matter what, according to JBE. So you just wait a couple weeks for a human to go back and reverse the decision.

Didn't know that was a prerequisite for the generator reimbursement.

I've never seen that stated.

Were you saying this when Obama arbitrarily decided that all his Eastern seaboard constituents from DC to New York would get first-dollar coverage on their HO policies from "super" Storm Sandy? Meanwhile, everyone from Florida to Louisiana that's been dealing with real storms and destruction forever had to not only pay a deductible, but then were rewarded with Coverage A percentage deductibles. Were you championing for taxpayers then? Didn't think so smart guy.

Just got approved for the $500 per a letter on the fema site once I log in. Says the Misc. is now pending, so am hoping I get something out of that. Didn't ask for the $500 but I get it FEMA is trying to help people. If I don't spend it I will donate it to a charity.

I got approved too but it never asked me for direct deposit info. Are they mailing checks?

You didn't provide direct deposit information when you created your initial claim?

This is correct. I got my $500 direct deposited in my account the other day. I wasn't expecting it because I had been rejected.

Pleasant surprise!

Applied on 9/3 and just got the $500 approval letter (I received a text message saying there was a change to my account)...I also uploaded a receipt for generator last week and that had been updated, well not really updated but it went from pending to now it's a clickable case file

We spent way more than that on hotel and to restock the fridge/freezer. I live on a police and fire dept grid so we don't normally lose power and don't have a generator. I don't feel bad that the government gave me $500 of my taxes back.

What is the criteria for rental assistance? FEMA say I am not eligible because the house is livable. I know people who are getting Rental who sustained no damage? I actually had some minor water seepage

FEMA saying I can’t get critical need either.

Exactly. It’s my money and it’s going to someone so it may as well be me.

All these “I’m above taking a handout” people are clowns.

Same situation as everyone else. Initially rejected, got a text saying the case was updated. Now the miscellaneous line appeared, and there’s a letter saying we were approved for $500.
