SJA and Catholic aren't under the BR diocese so they aren't following this shite.

11 people downvoted you and you were correct. CHS is not under the Diocese.

I want to say that CHS is not a diocesan school but SJA is.

True private schools can do what the want and are separate.

Parochial schools are tied to the diocese and follow its rules.

I think all the pre-k through 8th Catholic schools in BR are parochial.

At least you got a response. I've heard nothing so far. I also left a voicemail with some lady name Joni Hermann. Not sure what she does, but somehow that's whose voicemail I ended up with, so she got the message.

Just keep calling and emailing. Reply to their response with another one.

Everyone seems to be railing on the BR Diocese for this stuff, but they are simply following the State of Louisiana's guidelines for schools.

If I wanted my kids' school to follow state/parish guidelines, I would have sent them to public schools.

So it is ok for kids to go without a mask at the public library, church, the mall, Walmart, sporting events, etc. but not school? What are they thinking?
I guarantee that some, if not all of the people making these stupid rules have no problems going out to those places you mentioned without wearing their own masks, even though around 50-60% of the state's general population isn't vaccinated.

some students and staff are unable to receive the vaccine

Logic suggests these VERY FEW people who cannot receive the vaccine should be ADVISED to wear a mask IF THEY WANT TO.

If masks work, then they'll be protected.

All this for a virus with a 99.9% survival rate for people under 30. A virus so insidious, the vast majority of people have to be tested to even know they have it.

But the vaccine isn’t available for those under 12, so why should my <12 year old be beholden to choices someone else makes?

Just give it two weeks to a month and they will drop the age down to 6 and now the parents will be pressured by their children to act so they can sit with their friends.

My kid's pediatrician said they are waiting for "new studies and results" to come out in about a month.

Vaccniated kids don't have to mask and you must show proof your kid is.

I gave my kids a handwritten note. If they refuse that I will see them in court.

Hey pride, any thoughts on how to convince my 20 yo college student to continue to wear a mask and NOT take the vaccine?

She's got the "get vaccinated or wear a mask" email like all sorority/fraternity students did. "It'll make my life easier" and I gave her all the "they start with this ... it's up to you to take a stand ... what will they come for next" stuff.

I'm the mom and she's HAD covid and there isn't a single reason in this world that she should take this at this time ... Given her age, I can't make her do anything but it sure is making me angry, pissed off and everything else. She knows how I feel .. and I know I have to let her decide for herself but there is not need for it.

I mean not really, cause personally I am for taking the vaccine, I just think putting any restrictions on those who choose not to is bullshite
