Best restaurant you have stumbled across in a small town or off the beaten path

Guess this could be posted on the food or travel board, but I'll put it here. The wife and I enjoy taking back roads to locations to explore the areas. Every now and then we find really cool restaurants or shops. The best find most recently was when we drove to Gulf Shores down from Fairhope. We passed through a small area called Magnolia Springs. There was a neat looking restaurant all lit up with outdoor seating called Jesse's. We decided to stop by and were surprised that you had to have a reservation. We were also dressed a little too casual for the place, so made a reservation and changed clothes and went back. Really great locally supplied food. Filet mignon and paella was excellent.
Any other suggestions for those that travel the off the beaten path routes?

My dad, his buddy and myself were in New Iberia for the 5A State baseball championship series to see my nephew pitch. After seeing Rummel beat Slidell, my dad wanted a good steak, which we stumbled upon a place called Charlie's.
They had a 14oz ribeye covered in crawfish etouffee, was one of the best steaks we've ever had. After 3 bottles of wine and dinner the bill was over $200. We tipped the server 60 and made her night. She told us she's never been tipped that well before..
I heard the place is no longer open.

Martha’s Skillet outside of Rome, Ga. has an awesome southern breakfast. I’m sure it’s great at other times, but I’ve only driven through Rome in the morning.

Big Johns Texas BBQ, Page, AZ
We love road trips out West, but food usually is pretty meh all over, outside of destination cities.
After 4 days in the middle of nowhere eating PB&J and jerky, we stumbled into this gem. Fantastic bbq in an area where bbq isn’t usually good, great atmosphere, and great beer.

There used to be a great restaurant in Livonia, but I forgot the name. It’s now closed, so the name of the restaurant is basically useless trivia.

Tiny little bbq spot named the Southern Star that was in a gas station, just north of Highland Home AL, in way south Montgomery county. Grandfather and I hunted around there growing up and that little hole in the wall was a must at least twice every trip.
