I have a question.
What happens if you use a CPAP machine for a while, say a year, and then you stop using it for whatever reason, will you die in your sleep because your body has become dependent on the CPAP machine?
I've gone a few days to weeks at a time without using mine either for laziness or traveling and been fine, but I can tell my sleep quality isn't as good.

They are mostly done at home now and it’s not a big deal.

My concern is that the obesity risk is overvalued - and that apnea is under diagnosed, and under treated . I believe we’re also missing the the real problem, with the focus on weight.

Raises hand. I am on an APAP. It does feel like it makes a difference. My problem was that I could never fall asleep with it on, so now I have to take an Ambien with it. I can definitely tell when I don’t wear it now.

I have been using a cpap for the last three months. They have increased my pressure from 8 to 12. What is the average pressure that everyone uses

I've been using an APAP for 30 days now and feel more rested in the morning and awake with little to no stuffy nose. This is my first ever machine.
I adapted pretty quick to the nose pillows and have used it every night so far.
Ordered a SoClean2 yesterday for it. There is a $100 rebate running now on them.

11. It was 14-16 with the full face mask according to the app. But it wasn’t sealing off properly. Went to the one that sits under your nose and over your mouth. Seals off great.
I was averaging 32 events/hr and oxygen was dipping to 80%.
I’m not going to say I’m waking up ready to attack the day every morning, but it’s definitely better than it used to be. I used to be tired and achy all the damn time. Now I just feel normal.

I did a sleep study and was told I only had 3 out of the required 5 disturbances per hour to call it sleep apnea. Wake up feeling like shite and likely need a CPAP but technically don’t have it. I’m assuming CPAPs aren’t cheap?

Full mask vines off face twice nightly. Wakes me up it sounds like wind tunnel in my ears and blows air in my face.

They are not cheap . Not sure if there’s a new mask , mine is 5 years old . It sucks falls off face every night.

I basically had the same thing. Slept like shite during the study too because I had all this crap glued to my head and was never comfortable.
My wife swears I have it. I don’t snore but she says I stop breathing in my sleep for 20-30 seconds and then catch my breath like I’m almost drowning.

I'm sure your PCP has probably told you to lose some weight. I'm exactly your height and was around 212 and my PCP told me that I need to lose about 15lbs.

After insurance $300 just to be tested and all you do is sleep with these wires connected to you. Better be able to sleep on your back too.

I’m 6’4” and if I was 215 I would be skinny. You are not fat.

CPAP is game changer for me
Not overweight
In good health
*No longer wake up sweating
*No longer snore
*No longer wake up to piss in the middle of every night.

Guarantee you haven't been inside a gym in at least a decade and eat fried food daily

I have a very mild case; the wife not so subtly requested that I get a study. I've broken my nose a couple of times so I knew going in I had obstructed breathing and I certainly snore.
The study sucks.
Getting used to the machine probably takes about a week.
Once you're used to it, there is a pronounced difference in energy levels as well as a clarity of thought.
Things I'd like to change:
Because I cannot reliably breathe out of my nose, I have to have the full face mask which basically makes me look like Bane. I'd like to find a smaller mask that would still meet my needs.
I know when it's time to resupply with new equipment when it starts falling off on a regular basis. It really should take about a year adn then you need to replace.
all in all, i'm pretty pleased.
