Actually-it just fricks everyone around.

My brother is a Type I diabetic. He needs injectable insulin for survival. His body cannot and does not produce the hormone, insulin, as all Type I diabetics. Injectable insulin before Trump was prohibitively expensive for many people. Further, it develops in childhood- I know a child who died from undiagnosed complications of it. It’s what Julia Roberts died of in Steel Magnolias. Working families legit struggled to afford life saving meds for their kids. There’s no reason for this. Synthetic insulin has been around since I think the 30s, but maybe it’s the 50s. Either way - it’s a while. There’s no R&D costs that big pharma is recovering from it. It’s like the a-hole Epipen thing. The high price (at gunpoint) Xiden authorized is literally corporate welfare to Big Pharma.

frick them. And frick Joe Xiden with a cactus.

Type II diabetes (which is the degenerative kind) is a degenerative disease, contributed to by lifestyle and can be controlled by metformin and diet. Metformin is a pill and it’s relatively cheap.

I have no problem with this being subsidized by government and made virtually free.

I can only imagine the media headlines if the roles were reversed and Trump was doing this to black people.

Used to be incoming presidents wouldn’t touch the popular and successful things their predecessor did and would tackle perceived failures.

Biden will undo all of Trumps policies out of spite. What a piece of shite

This delay is for a rule that wasn't in place yet, just to clarify.

quote:

Community health centers, patient advocates and other groups pushed back on the rule when HHS proposed it last year, saying the changes were unnecessary and could do more harm than good. The National Association of Community Health Centers has said the rule reflects "a fundamental misunderstanding" of federally qualified health centers and the 340B program. And providers worried the regulation could reduce patients' access to care by cutting deeper into community health centers' thin operating margins.

quote:

Republican lawmakers have expressed concern about expanding the 340B drug discount program. But their complaints have generally centered around hospitals, not community health clinics. Federally qualified health centers are legally required to reinvest any savings from 340B in community services, a standard that does not apply to hospitals.

Experts say the rule probably wouldn't make much of a dent in drug prices because it wouldn't affect most providers or patients. HHS admitted as much in its final rule, saying it would have "minimal economic impact."

I'll be honest, this move doesn't look good, but I also don't know how much of an impact it would make either way after reading that article. Obviously I want the price of insulin to be as affordable as possible for the patients who need it.

this is 100% correct.

problem is, people that can't afford it get the cheap insulin from Walmart. but it isnt true insulin, causing uncontrollable spikes and drops in blood sugar guess what what happens with really high blood sugar? DKA. If you live, enormous hospital bills- passed on to probably government

I'm not justifying anything. If this move stops what would have been a reduction in the price of insulin to patients, its a bad move and Biden deserves the flak.
