I’m not saying I’m a fan of his or agree with how he’s made his money but there is literally zero wrong with him getting the relief money. It says it was used to help nearly 350 employees.

He hasn’t paid society like I and all the vast majority of us have. Sorry, this mother fricker can afford to pay his employees. Meanwhile the thousands of people laid off at the meat packing plant don’t get shite. This is outrageous. He can’t get away with this like he did with the Hurricane.

Why didn't the meat packing plants get PPP loans... had they applied, they'd have gotten them and they they'd be forgiven. How is it Osteen's fault that they didn't?

I mean... I don't care for the guy... he harms Christianity and doesn't turn people toward Jesus... I've never watched his show or anything... but I can't fault him for taking advantage of a government program that was set up for everyone.

I’m not all that sympathetic to bailouts on institutions that don’t pay taxes.

They’re paying payroll taxes to qualify, and if they were keeping employees paid, good for them.

You didn’t have to prove a revenue disruption to qualify for the program. If you kept the status quo, you’re in

I got no love for Joel, but here you are again talking out of your arse with great authority about something in which you know very little.

If you want to bitch, complain to those that wrote the laws, not the person that simply followed it.

Do you pay more than you owe in taxes?

Of course not, you follow the law.

Call you congressman.

So... in the PPP rules, they singled out meat packing plants as not eligible?

“Believing the shutdown would only last a few weeks, Lakewood did not initially apply for PPP assistance during the first half of the program,” Iloff said in a statement. “However, as the shutdown persisted month after month, given the economic uncertainty, Lakewood finally applied for the PPP loan and has been able to provide full salaries and benefits including health insurance coverage to all of its employees and their families.”

He added, “It is important to note that, since 2004, Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen have not received salaries from Lakewood Church, and the PPP funds do not provide any personal financial benefit to them, whatsoever.”

So they don't receive salaries, I assume they make their money from book sales, etc..

How do they pay for this house?

I’ve done with these mega churches before. They are the biggest con artists in this country always saying “woe is me, we don’t have much money since we’re a charitable organization” as they drink from their golden fricking chalices. They don’t pay but the most baseline of taxes. Everyone else is paying at least 20% more than these scumfricks. I’d rather deal with drug dealers since at least they’re honest they don’t pay taxes and will pay the price with the thought they aren’t getting taxed.

I’d be shocked if he pays more than 1 out of 3 people who work for his church.

Regardless of whether you're a minister performing ministerial services as an employee, or a self-employed person, all of your earnings, including wages, offerings, and fees you receive are subject to income tax, only the church itself is tax exempt on money they retain for operations. I can assure you the IRS looks at operations like Osteen’s with a microscope.

How many churches do? Seriously, no judgement but these people get their payment out of worshipping the Lord. How many churches pay their choir and organist? Not many.
