It holds heat down here causing the shingles to melt and lose their integrity prematurely.....of course the sprayfoamers won’t tell you this......
Also, if it ever gets soaked in a flood or a minor roof leak.....complete nightmare

Unless it's open foam on the roof which is what foam guys that know what they are doing install on roof applications but I have heard of it aging shingles still.

No, but there usually no ridge vent if you spray the roof line which is what you should do.
You have to put in baffling at the ridge and soffit vents before the insulation is sprayed in. This will allow you to maintain proper ventilation.

Thanks for all of the insight guys. This is shaping up to be quite a storm!
Fair warning to those of you who mentioned trying to evacuate to BR: I've noticed tonight that the utility companies are beginning to stage their trucks all around town. Probably close to a hundred of them on college drive alone.
There are only so many hotels in the city and I imagine the line crews are booking them up fast.

So, is RDS dC on board with the current track forecasted for landfall in Houston?

Well Laura got derailed...... but even roll batt insulation is a bad idea on the roof/rafters. You need heat to dissipate through the attic......any insulation under the roof decking, between the rafters is a bad idea.....
But how about Laura! Let’s see which way she’s swinging in the morning.... it can do some crazy stuff once in the Gulf....

While I understand your response, the original post you made said you aren’t worried about your home in Westlake unless it’s a hurricane. UpToPar’s post makes sense in that respect.
I only should have read before posting, my bad.

I said it earlier in this thread, but I just want to say it again: she knows her shite and goddamn, she has nice tits. There's nothing sexier in this world than a smart woman.

I have never heard of any issue with open cell spray foam hurting the shingles. Had my last house for 10 years, mother in law's in 8 years and never an issue and both were sealed completely, no venting. New house will be the same way.
Now AC...that's a whole different story.
Now back to Laura...anyone have older grandparents that are refusing the leave? My 85 year old grandparents came back from the camp at Toledo and are refusing to leave. Even though they know they will be without electricity for a long time.
My dad has to go back for Police jury shite right after storm passes and he is anticipating having to cut them out. I do not understand the insistence of the older generation on staying. Know multiple people who have parents/grand parents doing the same thing.
We had whole home generator at the house and I still left. No way I would chance this BS with 3 young kids. Sounds awful just thinking about it, even if nothing happens.

So, how confident are you of the forecasted Houston landfall?? I’m in Jackson, MS with hay fields. Trying to figure out when or even if to cut this week...
