So you do spend a lot of time there

This is absolutely true, especially in Hancock and West Harrison County.

I’ve driven by while on tdy, at the Gulfport ANG Base; & on my way from thence to P’cola Beach.
So, they won’t let you in Florida.
P. S. Just good natured ribbing, nothing personal...

Bump.
I'm trying to find out if anyone knows the status of the campground out at Ft. Pickens? The website is not updated.

Still closed. It's part of NPS, not the state.

Been driving all morning and couldn’t update.
1) Florida checkpoints are still on I-10
2) The governor late last night extended the rental ban to May 4th. On May 4th and new ban goes into affect until phase I has concluded or by order.
3) Okaloosa county opened the beaches up 24/7
4) Walton county has scheduled a 1pm emergency meeting to update the beach openings ordinance.
So basically, if you’re renting a place in Florida, the person/company renting it to you is breaking the law.

So for point number 2, the rental ban will extend past May 4th?

What happens if you rent from someone and they are breaking the law?
I guess I’ll try not to get caught. Already paid for and spoke to the host this morning

So, we should expect an extended ban to go into place on May 4th?
The part that gets me is "homes and condos" are NOT OK, where people are alone. "Hotels, Inns & Resorts" ARE OK, where there's common areas, cleaning crew in each room every day, front desk interaction, etc.... makes total sense.

Yes. The old was supposed to expire today but he extended it to the 4th. A new one, which is part of the Florida reopening (whatever the frick they are calling it) goes into affect Monday.

If caught, they can have the renters removed and the offender (owner) can incur a fine and a ban on renting for one year.
The way around this is just to have the renters say they are friends of the family and not paying anything. Our neighbor two houses down has been doing this for 2 or 3 weeks.
I assume it’s happening a good bit because the amount of Louisiana, TN and GA plates have quadrupled from this time a few weeks ago.

Yeah I talked to the host and now I’m a cousin. Hahah. Can’t wait to be on the beach

Just booked Orange Beach for the week after Mother’s Day. Hopefully some bars and restaurants are open by then

I’m sticking with my original reservations in Perdido Key, for now.

Some restaurants in Baldwin County have already stated they are going to be defying the governor's order and the mayor of Mobile came out against it also.

You might have restaurants open (officially) towards the back end of your trip, but I wouldn’t count on any bars. Fortunately the line gets blurred pretty easily at the beach so I’m sure you’ll have some places to post up and drink.

So I've read conflicting info on Destin beaches. Are they opening fully on may 1 or may 9?

Going to 30A for Memorial Day, luckily friends own condos. Secretly hoping for the short term rental ban to extend through May to not have crowds.

The beaches are fully open now, no restrictions. The governor has restrictions on short term rentals.

I can’t find the extended order. Do you have a link? I’ll send to my rental company
