Maybe.

What're your thoughts on the JFK assassination? Moon landing?

I'm farther right than most of this board, but I cannot say that this is overblown or the correct amount.

Cute. Not a conspiracy theorist at all really.

Moon landing? We nailed that bitch and oh by they way the earth is indeed round.

JFK? Well, my mind is open on that one. The shot wasn’t terribly hard (living in Dallas I go by the book depository often), how ever the rifle was a POS and the follow up shot was super quick.

Also, why Parkland when another hospital was way closer?

Not saying it was a CIA or Cuba hit but it would not surprise me.

The problem with comparing it to the flu is that there's no vaccine yet and we've had 100+ years of research on the flu

Most liberals are doing liberal things but I do have some friends that are liberal that agree shutting down the economy is ridiculous

The danger is real; however, there have been over 23,000 US deaths, this flu season, due to influenza. Covid19 accounts for 1500 tops. That leaves 21,500 deaths due to the regular flu. This is a scheme to crash Trumps economy.

It's definitely worse than a bad flu- because of the myriad ways it affects different people with different symptoms, varying by age group and other factors... from being completely asymptomatic, to death.

I still don't believe, by any means, that it was worth ruining the global economy over. It's partly the conspiracy theorist in me, but bigger things are happening in the shadows.

It's kinda funny who sees conspiracies here.

A play from the Left... really?

If anything, this is benefiting the Right, and I say that as someone who supports Trump and is anti-globalist.
Let's look at what's going on:

Everyone in Europe is hunkering down, banning travel, trying to limit new entry into their countries. Serious blow to the EU.

Meanwhile, Trump comes out daily and has a press conference. As long as there's no incredibly terrible news (and the death rate is still low overall), and as long as he doesn't lose his mind and do something like whip his dick out, people will see him daily and become increasingly familiar/comfortable with him. He's coming across as "presidential", and more importantly he's making things happen. This is what you want out of the President.

If this was a plot by the Left, it's backfired hugely.

The Left does not have to plot to make Donald Trump look bad. He makes himself look bad most times he opens his mouth.

I am Center-Left politically and I formed my opinions on Covid-19 based on what doctors and scientists say. Those folks say this is bad, worse than our various flu strains. They say we need to restrict social contact until we get the rate of growth levelled off so our medical facilities can handle the sick. I will listen to them (medical people/scientists) and not Repub or Dem political leaders

I see the divide as being split between people on the right who want us to succeed and doomers on the left who want an apocalypse so they can blame Trump.

Well yes

But liberals always make decisions based largely on emotions

So this is hardly surprising

You think conservatives aren't being emotional about this?

All I see from team Trump (not Trump himself but his supporters) is a blind eye to how bad this could potentially be. They're emotionally trying to convince themselves that this is not much to be concerned about when all data and trends point in the exact opposite direction.

People believe what they want to be true.

I guess the whole world is in on this to bring Trump down?

It was serious enough that Trump stopped flights from China late January. And got called a racist for it by the media.

It is serious enough NOW that Cuomo is shouting for more masks even though he was convincing people to go to Chinatown for Chinese New Year in early/mid February (comparing CV to Ebola, H1N1, etc.) and hasn't distributed the masks he's been given. Media silence on that.

It was serious enough that the media was calling this the Wuhan or Chinese Flu up until early March and now that term is "racist" when Trump says it.

Do I see a political divide in the seriousness of this virus?

You're damned right I do...

This all checks out

And the political bias of the right is pretending that this isn't much to worry about which is just silly.

I like Trump’s policies and feel like this virus is akin to a serious flu. I don’t think we should be closing business over this. Especially mandated by the government. I’ve followed the numbers hard for 3 weeks. It’s serious but not scary. This feels politically motivated by the left.

All restrictions are state and local, can you explain how a state like MS which has not a single elected Democrat in a statewide position was controlled by the left?

Perhaps they just have info you just dont choose to believe and are doing what they feel is best to protect the citizens of their state.

You are correct on the political divide though, not sure why the tRumpkins are still in denial mode, even their GEOTUS has now accepted the reality of the situation.

The extreme left on the other hand is trying feverishly (pun intended) to cause panic for their own gain, it is sad to watch.

For folks in the middle which is the actual majority of Americans the behavior of both groups is disheartening.

Absolutely

On the left you have mass hysteria and finger pointing and on the right you have complete delusion about how serious the situation is even though almost all elected republicans are taking the matter very seriously

Giving that some serious thought today, and I don't like my conclusions.
