All @DeptofDefense military and civilian personnel and families instructed that no domestic travel is permitted unless permission is granted for certain exceptions. LINK

So if this would be expected to trickle down to civilians, don’t leave your city or don’t leave your state? My kid has to go to ole miss to get her stuff that she needs from the dorms on Monday. Like I wonder if blocking of state lines would be a thing?

If so, my God.

Most corporations have already done this for their employees last week. DoD is a little late on this one.

I work for a DoD contractor and my first instinct is to ask what qualifies as domestic travel? I fear this might leak into the private sector.

If I can’t drive two hours to see my family my response is simply to not tell my employer and if they pry to tell them to go kick rocks. This shite has completely jumped the shark.

Memo clearly says stop travel is only for military. Civs are only prevented from work travel.

Let me know if you are looking to sneak over the Louisiana-Texas border, I know some routes.

The order says "government funded" travel. But it also says any leave taken must be local. It applies to military and civilian DOD employees and their families. My SIL and daughter were supposed to PCS in two weeks. They've already put a deposit and first month rent on an apartment at their new location. We'll see how this plays out.

The Stop Movement pertains to Government Funded travel.

"All DoD service members and civilians, and their family members will stop all official travel – such as Permanent Change of Station or Temporary Duty..."

The restrictive leave policy pertains to Service Members only. The DoD cannot instruct a private citizen (i.e. Family Member) where they can and cannot go.

Please don't blow this out of proportion. We (Military Members) have restriction of movement orders placed on us all the time. Some of you seem to be losing control of yourselves.
