Spending 20k on an 8 year old Tacoma when you can get a brand new full size truck for 30k seems crazy to me

The 2015 Tacoma is what many owners recommend as the best you can buy right now.

It's always odd to watch people run their mouths about vehicles they don't own.

I find it odd for anyone who's never turned a wrench on anything in their adult life comment on any vehicle.

My brother has new Tacoma that he paid damn near 40k for. He’s turned a lot more wrenches than me the last 10 years and after driving his truck I don’t know what he was thinking getting a Taco. Most ball less truck I have ever been behind the wheel on.

The 4.0 is still in the 4Runner I believe. Great engine.

Good. Not great.

The Nissan 4.0 is better. Pity they never collaborated. A Tacoma with a nissan 4.0 would be unstoppable offroad.

Thanks for confirming that you don't own a 2nd gen Tacoma and are just talking out of your arse as usual.

What makes the Nissan 4.0 better than the Toyota 4.0 in an off-road setting?

Been looking for a 2014-15 for nearly a year.

Got close one time, set up a place and time, ended up missing out on it because I had to work and couldn't text, he traded it in because they gave him a good deal on trade in and cost of his new suv.

Drive one and it'll make sense. Their 4.0l just has gobs of torque from 2200 on up. And it revs out hard too.

The Tacoma will make power at about 3K+. 3rd 4L and about 3K and you're going places.

To thw OP are you not wanting the new 3.5L? It appears to have more torque than the 4.0. I have a 2009 DC TRD OR 4x4 and would definitely consider that newer engine were In the market.

Ray Brandt in Kenner has been pestering me for months trying to buy my 2011 4x4 after I brought it in for a repair, so I know dealerships are trying to acquire them.

Good trucks, but the reputation long ago outstripped the reality.

I have 200k miles on a 2012 that is off-road at least every other week and weekly from September-December. I beat the shite out of it. The only repair has been a front wheel bearing. I’d say that it has lived up to its reputation

What are you looking to spend? Say the right number and my 2013 4x4 may hit the market.

Ive got a 2002 4 door V6 4x4 with 135,000 miles on it. Drive it local around town and to the deer camp or the river. Wouldn't get rid of that thing for the world. Goes anywhere a damn 4 wheeler can go.
