That’s the teams and coaches fault not his.
Also he’s averaging like 22 points a game his last 10 games and his teammates have nothing but praise for him.
He almost won a game 3 v 5 and scored 40 points come on dude.
Avery didn’t know to coach a player as good as him.

I'll concede the last point to you. It doesn't address your original question though. You asked "How bad would Avery's tenure had (have) been without Sexton?"
I could actually argue that the signing of Collin Sexton sped up the firing of Avery Johnson and made his tenure look worse. The lack of substantial success with the best player we've had in more than a decade exposed Avery's lack of ability to coach. Our record would not have been much worse had Avery not signed Collin and expectations would have been a lot less...

I'm no fan of Avery, but he was Dirk's coach in his MVP season, so this really isn't true. Avery just didn't know how to coach college players.
