Yeah she pretty much just tells friends and family that if they need it, she can sell it, but she's not going out and actively selling it. I don't know why she even does it really.

My wife dropped around $1000 on Beauty Counter products a few years back. Her friend said it would be a good way to make extra income by putting on parties trying to sell the makeup products. I now have 15 large boxes looking at me in my office, 2 years later.

I think she sells Lularoe cause he got REALLY defensive of it once in another MLM thread. Me and LL talking about how ugly their stuff is and he didn’t like that at all.

That documentary on the wallstreet guy who lost his arse shorting Herbalife is a pretty interesting look into how that and I am sure other MLM's operate.

Bill Ackman. Couldn’t have happened to nicer fella. Don’t mess with Carl Icahn.

Their stuff isn’t bad....just pricey.
If I want a skincare product....I want to be able to drive to a store and physically buy it. Order it online only if it saves me money.
Not have to jump through hoops and order it from someone else and pay for shipping, etc.

This is me. I do the Thrive thing. it nets me about 10k a year that I wouldnt have otherwise, and pays for all of my product that I'd be using anyway, because for me, it works.
Direct sales is just cutting out the brick and mortar, and honestly isnt that where its all headed anyway? everything will be online only eventually, and when that gets to be the case I'd rather someone I know make the commission than some rando person on amazon.

This leggings one LuLaroe - they don't even let you buy the style you want - they just ship you a bunch of random crap and you're stuck with it
They got entirely brought down these past few months. People who got duped into it are selling their entire inventory for a fraction of what they spent on it.. just trying to get something back. And you're right - They don't get to choose the patterns.
I will admit not every MLM is the same. MaryKay has been around for ages and it isn't as common for them to push recruitment.
As for the products, some are okay supposedly. But if I want a nice shampoo, I'll go to the salon and buy a top rated one that has been around for decades. If I want to cure an illness, I'll visit a DOCTOR.. not rub an essential oil on my body. That's borderline anti-vax level stupid. Monat was in the news across the country for burning people's scalps.

Haven’t heard that but who knows, that would suck

I've heard a couple MaryKay stories, but for the most part, it isn't too bad. They don't really harp on recruitment. And at this point, MK is basically bought and sold by the same older ladies that have been for years.
Avon isn't bad either. I don't even know if they qualify as an MLM. I want to say their salespeople don't have people above or below them. They are basically just the middle man between the customer and the manufacturer. I could be wrong though.

Turns out that whole 'saturating the market by recruiting your friends and friends of friends' thing really bites you in the arse eventually

Agree. Friend of mine got duped into buying a ton of R+F skincare. She has perfectly fine skin. She would have balked at the idea of a woman going to the dermatologist and spending $$ for Retinol or Botox.. But she spent hundreds on questionable MLM skincare.. for a problem she doesn't even have.

Exactly. If I work for any traditional company selling a product, there's a limit to how many new hires I'd be happy with. The only person who benefits from new hires is the person who gets a cut of their sales. Otherwise, each employee's income is going down more and more as new ones come on.

Daily checklist from one of the MLMs. Look at the gray section especially. It's really sad that they turn their social media into such a toxic sales oriented approach.
None of it is genuine.
It's all about increasing engagement. Due to how FB does their timeline algorithm they want to interact with as many people as possible. I see this also with a person that I really haven't seen since middle school but they will post crap like "respond with a GIF on how your Monday is going". Also the MLM companies want you to keep it positive and project a happy and healthy life. Rarely you'll see them post negative stuff while they're onboard.

I had recently reconnected with one of my best friends from High School. We would talk from time to time until he married his second wife. The calls turned from us laughing about the old days to him trying to get me to invest in her MLM business of the month. So I blocked him...

I'm just glad I don't have to hear or see shite about LIMU any longer. Those guys that were hooked into that were insufferable. The guy I knew that always showed off his BMW telling everyone they could have one too is now driving a Mazda.
