The complete refusal of congress to do anything that’s not beneficial for themselves has led to this.

Trump wants te issue more than he wants an actual wall. It gets his core supporters into a raw meat eating frenzie. Politically, it would be not so good for him to get a wall right now.....he gets it, most of is supporters will forget about it by Nov. 2020 especially if the economy starts to slow down

Gutting the disgrace of a federal government we have now would be one of the greatest achievements in US history

This wall really is about the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Talk about a "solution" in search of an actual problem.

If you actually had the strength of your convictions, you’d write your Congressman/woman and beg them to introduce legislation that would tear down all existing physical barriers along the border. But you, and none of your kind do. You’re being intellectually dishonest with empty platitudes like, “experts say walls don’t work”. So dumb. No one takes you seriously.

And to be completely honest I don’t even really care about a wall one way or another, I just want to point and laugh at those core supporters when they don’t get what they want.

So, you disagree with the majority opinion of border security experts who think that our physical borders are in dire need of an upgrade?

There are a multitude of problems posed by illegal immigration that a wall helps to solve, in addition to enforcing the laws on the books. If you claim otherwise, you're either intentionally lying or have your head in the sand.

The real problem is not money - it's motivation.

Dems enjoy the influx of current and future government dependents who don't have that much of a grasp or attachment to the US Constitution.

Repubs have little incentive to do anything because large corporations enjoy the cheap labor.

TSA is unaffected by the shutdown
This thread is getting the anchor

Travel services Regardless of how long the shutdown may last, air traffic control operations will not be affected, ensuring the nation’s airlines continue to operate. TSA agents will remain on duty. Additionally, government-owned Amtrak will continue.

because the REPUBLICANS know it's stupid,

But the PEOPLE voted for Trump based on this, lowering taxes and draining the swamp.

If he wants to get re-elected, he keeps it shut down until either he get the funding or they override his veto.

What is Trump's plan when TSA shuts down and thus almost all air travel nationwide?

TSA is not required by the Federal Government to operate a commercial airport. Private security is allowed, most airports have just opted for the government option.

I'd also imagine each airport commission will dip into their cash reserves to fund their airport's security in the absence of funding from the TSA.

how is that any different than “____ to own the libs”?

I don’t like most hardcore conservatives. Part of it is political, part of it is cultural. It makes me happy to see y’all sad or to not get what you want. It’s really just that simple and y’all are the same way.

They told Trump they'd only negotiate regarding the wall once the government was reopened. Trump said no deal.

There's another thread on that topic on here from earlier this afternoon. There are links in that thread.

I can't imagine that this was the extent of the discussion.

You must not have much of an imagination.

The Dems pulled the exact same stunt with President George H.W. Bush about negotiating budget cuts only after Bush agreed to raise taxes.

Bush fell for their trap and raised taxes, which cost him from being re-elected. ("Read my lips, no new taxes.")

The Dems refused to negotiate budget cuts after they got the tax increase.

There is not one single person in the private sector that is not at risk of getting laid off at any time, for any reason. They are simply getting pay put on pause. That is a risk THEY are taking by accepting their position in the public sector. They are paid on average 17% more than their private sector counterparts, and receive benefits excessively higher than any private company could afford. With hardly any incentive for performance or risk of getting laid off. Those employees can kindly frick off

Federal Government vs. Private Employee Compensation

Oh and that's according to the CBO.
