And he may as well. If he stays next year, that doesn't guarantee that he will play more than 3 years.

No it doesn't but it helps his odds of getting a decent signing bonus.

At best $129, probably net $90. Subtract $40 for one year of college he has to pay to finish and he is doing this for $50K.

I truly hope it works for him, but I think he has stars in his eyes.

Bruh, for some people that's more money than they can imagine.

Not for one year man. They don't just give them perm. practice squad duty. Next year, another younger, marginal draftee will take his place on the practice squad. And that $129k gets cut by agent, taxman, etc. prob down to about 70k, life changing.

Yep. It's a risk either way. He could get hurt next year or he could improve his draft stock. He could go this year and be a journeyman in the league for 10 years. There may be academic and/or family considerstions as well.

I do agree with you that we're not in his shoes so there may be factors we're not aware of. On the face of it however, it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. I hope it works out for him.

just my opinion... all these guys that declare early and not complete a 4 year schooling program, and who declare for the NFL draft, should be made to pay back to the university any scholarship money given to them

I think it's a mistake like many. An LSU degree and being a huge Tiger would make a very good living for him too... and more than $500,000.

The amount of money he can earn on the practice squad is a lot if damn money to a lot of people out there. For him, it may just be too good to pass up.

I wish he would think about long-term though. You can be cut from the practice squad anytime. Yeah you could probably make $100,000 a year but if he even makes that I hope he invest it wisely

Or...you could come back to school, get an education you may very well need, get everything for free, and try to improve to the level of making guaranteed millions
with his knees, he will probably never get a contract to where he is playing for millions per year, no matter how good of a campaign he might have had next year here

Alexander is great on the field, problem is they've held him back due to lingering injuries the combine doctors will just red flag anyways...

Alexander had his moments, but did not have a stellar campaign.

I'm pretty surprised that he's declaring for the NFL draft. Can't see him being drafted very high.

Then could get picked up by another. There's no doubt he's taking a risk, but for whatever his situation may be, to him it may be worth it.

Everybody mentioning a degree please stop. I can promise u that LSU will pay for him to get his degree if he wants to come back and attain it, it’s a part of the package. Those are facts.

I did a quick search but couldn't find anything on it. You said it's facts, got the proof to back it up? I thought that was the case though.
