I use Cooking up a storm the most.

Any good suggestions to add to my small collection?

I can pretty much wing any cajun dish and have it come out good, things such as stews, gumbo, jambalaya, etoufee, sauce picaunt..... omit I need a reference for a technique or something I use the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, it's a pretty good reference.

This is the cookbook my mother always used, so now I use it as well.

For other dishes, I usually just look around online until i find a recipe I like. I also now have this book and really want to attempt a few things here and there, but I'm intimidated as hell by it.

The one I use most is a collection of my mom’s recipes in a binder. Over the years I’ve had her write down most of the foods she cooked while I was growing up, and over the years she and I have exchanged recipes and grown the collection. The actual book I use the most is one of the Frank Davis cookbooks, but much more frequently I’m cooking my mom’s stuff.

The Joy of Cooking. It's all about the techniques not the recipes.

Once you know the technique and understand what the seasonings do and what goes with what, you can build from there.
