I really like Wade's ideas to reinvigorate this program; too bad battling Alleva is a steep uphill battle.. we're talking about a man who let JJ return as head coach after that dreadful Simmons season, Alleva gives no shites. Hell, I'm sure if JJ had gone say 13-18 his final year instead of 10-21, he'd still be the coach.

Wow! I didn't know at the time it was the biggest Coliseum in the United States. 6' larger than Madison square garden

Well I know it couldn’t be done with snap of fingers, hence why I said a year. As others stated, you could make it an invitational. Slap a sponsor on front to cover some costs. It’s not out of realm of possibility since they play these one off games pretty much everywhere now.

You mean the Assembly Center. ;)

. Damn - do you realize how hard it was for me to get used to that! I still slip up all the time. I knew if I did on here, I would be crucified!

i'm sure i'm in the minority on this but i think the Ag Center would be a much better place for games if it was updated.

Think Cameron Indoor with drunk coonasses.

Thnaks don't you think that further proves the point its time to update the facility that it desperately needs its almost been a decade and the problems have not been fixed.

It can be done, but folks just like to say can't a lot these days.

I work for an industrial supply company and we have a machine shop and often times we bring things to them to do and their first reaction is that it can't be done.

Well, after you sit down and talk abut it, turns out it can be done, it's just hard, takes time and lots of effort and they don't really want to invest that. That's the real issue.

For me in the long run this would be a great thing, you would have a memorable event and that facility would get a much, much needed upgrade and facelift and could be used for more things in the future.

There have been college games played on aircraft carriers.
...between schools who had a lot more help organizing those games than LSU would ever have setting up a game at the Cow Palace.

Would be interesting to see if the cow palace could be revamped to permanently house basketball only. Would be amazing.
Ironically this is more likely and feasible than one game.

Yeah it would take some work to have a game in there, and yeah it would cost some money, but i think it would without a doubt be worth it. A throwback LSU-Kentucky game? without a doubt worth it.

and for the idiots saying save the money blah blah blah. LSU is one of the most profitable athletic departments in the country. This is the type of thing you "waste" money on b/c it energizes your fan base, and keeps those profits rolling in year after year.

No need to get all fancy with the concessions either. Just have bottles of water/coke, and have gross hot dog/hamburger stands and some popcorn. That's it.

The biggest challenge would be the TV setup. Everything else would be fairly easy.

always heard that lingering smell was sort of part of the “charm” of the place.

When our offices were being moved back in the early 80s, I had a temporary office over there. I did not find the aromas charming!

No coaches offices is an issue that Wade has brought up

That was my thought. If the can build a court and have a game on an aircraft carrier... surely we could do this at the cow palace.

Yes, there may be some expense and it may take some work. But it is completely doable. Sponsor the crap out of the game to get the money for it.

ire the place for TV and radio broadcasts,

Radio broadcast would not be hard... perhaps you have heard of "remote" broadcasts.

TV... oh noes we might not be able to get the game on SEC network plus... whatever will we do?

You make it sound like this could all happen with the snap of the fingers and $100. It is not that easy...and the cost and effort needed for a gimmick that would last for 2 hours is not worth it. Spend time and money on something important.

Make it an annual event. Make it the first SEC home game, or some random game in November/December. Tie it big with sponsors. Or make it a 4 team, 2 night, 2 games a night thing so you bring in additional revenue.

Yes, there would be some upfront cost. Sponsors would cover a lot of that. TAF can help.

Dream a little.

This would be great.

My grandfather has had season tickets since LSU was playing in Parker Coliseum. I would love for him to get to see one more LSU basketball game there while he is still alive.
