WE had a power surge a couple days ago and my LG refrigerator just stopped working. NO light, no fan, no nothing. I've called all around and can't find anybody who works on them. It's about 5 yrs. old and up till this point we had no problems.
Anybody know someone that works on these in the B.R. area?

Motherboard is shot.

But, I'd wait for Napoleon's sage advice.

If they are going to include these ridiculous computer motherboards to control every basic appliance these days, why is it so hard to build in some sort of reliable surge protection in them that won't cause the thing to fry and go kaput on any minor power surge it might experience?

Never buy appliances from a Big Box store that doesn’t service what they sell. Buy local, in Baton Rouge I recommend Stanton’s.

Does your refrigerator have a touch screen? It may need to be reset. Press down on two of the edge points simultaneously and hold for 3 seconds. You may have to try different combinations. For example, coukd be the top left and bottom left edges or top left and top right.

Edit your thread title and add “Paging Napoleon” for real results.

I changed the motherboard on my fridge a couple weeks ago. It is VERY simple.

LG has some crazy features.

Before you call a tech, hold the top fridge and the top freezer buttons until the display changes.

They go into showroom or power failure modes and you have to get them out.

I ordered a new motherboard aprox. $180.00 installed yesterday. So far working like a new fridge!
