Cat 5e/modem question

Thanks in advance for any help you all can offer me.
I recently changed my internet service provider and installed a new modem. Everything works fine with the exception of the cat 5e cable that hardwires my security system computer to my modem. At the modem, the indicator light for that cable stays yellow. All other wires for other devices connected to the modem are functional and have a green indicator light. I used a cat 5 tester, and all 8 wires of the cat 5e cable in question have continuity.
Any suggestions? What am I missing?

Are you experiencing any problems? Could just be a sign that the connection for your security system is running at 10/100 vs gigabit. The NIC on the security system may not support gigabit speeds, which shouldn’t be a problem.

The speed of my modem is indeed faster than my previous modem. The security system works fine. The only thing I’m missing is remote access to the system due to this cable problem I’m having.
Is there a remedy for this issue if it’s due to the difference in modem speed?

Remote access is a firewall / Port forwarding issue with your new modem. If the system works on the local network then the cable is fine. You have two options.
1. Take a peek at the side/bottom of your new modem and find the admin login and password and IP address of the admin page, probably 192.168.1.0 or something. Type that into your browser on the local network and Google your way into opening up some ports so you can get pipe into the feed.
2. Ask someone who knows what their doing to setup the camera so you don't break the internet or get your home network owned by some rando sniffing ports.
Good luck dude, I hope you get it fixed up.
