You know you aren’t a true conservative when the liberal media pays homage to you.

Greatly appreciate his service and he’s a hero, but he turned into a cuck in his old age.

I wonder if this thread will have less pieces of shite than the poliboard thread.

This thread turned into an a-hole fest quicker than the poliboard thread. Wow.

The vitriol in this thread is nauseating. John McCain served his state and his country for decades. I disagree with the man on how to run a government, but he deserves respect, even from dissidents.

Thank you for your service, Senator. I didn't always agree with your political beliefs but you deserve the respect of every American.
You spent five years as a POW, refusing early release despite torture. Donald Trump dodged the draft repeatedly.

I see the PT garbage didn't take long to show up.

Why are people in here celebrating? Honest question. Did he go against lord Trump or something?

I appreciate his military service but he was a snake and a very questionable human being otherwise. Prayers to his family.

Sad to see all these arse hat Wal Mart republicans celebrating. Just pathetic. It's yet another example of the idiocy of these folks who continually vote against their own self interest.
McCain spent five years as a POW while serving his country. He's an American hero who any sane reasonable person respects. He also should be saluted for standing up for what he thought was right instead of just slobbering like a dog because the "R" bell was ringing.

A lot of the replies in this thread are disturbing. I am sorry that we have fallen to this level of discourse.
It used to be that people could disagree and still respect one another. I voted for McCain in 2008. I didn't agree with everything he said, but I thought him the better candidate.
I haven't agreed with everything McCain has said and done since his election loss. But the man served his country in the most divisive of our wars. He spent years in a North Vietnam prisoner of war camp. He suffered torture and was permanently disfigured as a result. He could have gotten out early based on the fact that his father was an admiral, but declined.
He served his country in the Senate and followed his conscience in his votes. I didn't agree with them all, but I respected him. He was a "Maverick" and, while I didn't care for that I understood it.
We need to return to the days when we could disagree without being totally disagreeable. I'm not sure that will ever happen and we will be the worse for it.
R.I.P., Senator.

He served his country, then seemed to turn on it the last couple of years.

RIP Senator. He should have retired from politics 15 years ago.
