I just caved on the switch and started this game too. Pretty good so far, but I hustled and got the master sword early and now the Ganon blights are ridiculously easy. My only problem with the game is I feel like weapon degradation kind of takes away the incentive to explore.

Weapon degradation is killing this game for me. It ruins the flow. It’s a superficial way to try and make a game more difficult.

It isn’t. It’s a way to make you more creative with your weaponry and tactics. Once you learn how to track down weapons and kill things effectively, you’ll be grateful for this system. Once you get good at it, you get more pissed off that you can’t store more great weapons than them degrading. Have the balls to go Hyrule Castle if you’re running low on good weapons.

OML, God bless you, but it's a horse shite system. I know you love you some Nintendo, but don't embarrass yourself by defending it.
Other than how infuriating it is to have three weapons break in a single fight, it chaps my arse when I'm forced to collect all of these clubs and skeleton arms, and then I find a chest with a decent sword or axe, but NOOOOOOOOO, you can't carry any more of those items, so let's navigate through this clunky as frick inventory system and drop some of the garbage.
It quite literally makes it unplayable for me.

Then have the balls to go kill a Lynel to get better weapons. Seriously the good weapons that last a while are there if you have the balls to go seek them. I just looked at my arsenal, and I have 3 royal blades with hits around 50 a piece, several elemental items, two Lynel spears, and a few other goodies. I’m pissed I can’t collect 30 great weapons since I’ve run out of room. But keep pussing out, just kill random goblins you find, and then bitch that they don’t last long.
All you have to do is grow balls, go after some bad mother frickers, and you don’t worry about weapon durability. Or go forge some badass weapons at the towns you’ve helped or the Ancient Forge at Akala. You don’t know how to play the game if you’re constantly running out of decent weapons. Every time I break one, I just think where I can get a new one that may be even better. Go kill some Lynels or go to Hyrule Castle. Stop being a pussy demanding the game to handhold you.
EDIT: find a Hinox, which are easy as shite to take down. They have some good weaponry as well.

he's right, btw
I eventually had so many amazing weapons and knew where to farm more that it wasn't even a problem. and that's before master sword.

He really is. I was annoyed at first but once I played enough it became a fight to find out which "good" weapon I had to lose to make room for a better weapon. Had no problem with it. Sadly I put about 40 hours into it and all I had to do was walk to Hyrule Castle but I never did. Then came Bloodborne and God of War so that ended all of that.

What's the gate before you get to that point? I'm kind of following the main quests at the moment, doing a little exploring, and I'm definitely not to a point where I think I can go take on the big guys and get the good gear. I'm fine with having an option of weapons, but why even bother with durability? I know with old zelda games it was just the one type of weapon, so having more options is cool but durability really serves no purpose other than to add artificial difficulty to a game that is already almost perfect without it.
If I can go get the master sword now and not bother with it the rest of the game, I'll head there soon. I want to explore this world. I don't want to bother with weapon inventory management.

just throw the weapon when its about to break and use whatever is next in your inventory or on the ground.
you don't need to micromanage MMORPG style.
i think i farmed all the test of strength challenge shrines to get the good weapons from there. and did the labyrinths.

This isn't the problem. I have plenty of good shite but why should I go hunt down all the cool stuff if I know it's just gonna break after a couple fights. I really love the flame sword, looks awesome, but I can never make myself use it because I like the look of it too much and don't want it to shatter. That's fricking lame. You can still force people to get creative without having their weapons break all the time.

I found farming arrows by teleporting from city to city to buy up the merchant's inventories way more annoying than having to farm weapons.

SPOILERS
Uhhh...take a picture of it and go hunting.

You can literally buy a house and hang your favorite weapons on the fricking wall Like I shite you not. Buy a house in Kakariko village or whatever that place is called and you’ll be able to literally hang weapons like pictures.

The whole weapon system is brilliant because it's part of the reason the game doesn't have 300 "quests" that you have to complete. You have the big quests, some good character quests, and then freedom to set your own "quests."
If you like fire swords, take that picture, and start hunting one down. That's the quest. You don't need to talk to anyone, or bring something anywhere, just go explore and hunt for the sword. Literally. Or do what OML says and find big enemies. It's easy to keep stuff in stock and make that your "fetch" quests.

The weapon system is a pain in the arse. You should be able to repair them and possibly even upgrade them to an extent without making things too easy. Like the guy said about the flame sword. It’s a neat sword. Why not have it break but stay in the inventory. Go collect some fire items and meld it back to life or find some steel and increase it durability, etc. That adds a deeper aspect of the game that they are trying to create.

Why are you so attached to digital weapons, nappy?
Posted on 5/2/18 at 10:15 am to Blitzed
I think that's what jeff threw at me the first time this came up.
