They dreamed of Gruden, but it was only a wet dream. They should have been realistic from the beginning.

With the University of Tennessee job still open, worth noting that #Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter, a UT alum, would be a candidate. But he won’t interview and will focus on Detroit, I’m told. His eventual goal is to be an NFL coach.

You simply cannot have a head coach named Jim Bob Cooter. Can you?

44-38-7 is not exactly virtually tied. Currently 55-38-7.

whatever...before Saban, if Tennessee had won three of those games they had lost, the series would have been tied.

Why don't they look at Jim Tressel at this point? Too old at 64?

The SEC needs a strong Tennessee to give Alabama a challenge every year...
Agreed. Tenn has become an automatic "W" for Bama. It's close to being a bye week for the Gumps.

I'm almost to the point of feeling sorry for Tennessee.

Almost.......

Mullen was a no-brainer hire...a former OC who had success at a lower tier school (no offense to MSU). That was an easy hire.

Okay so why didnt we hire him?

Tenn needs to offer Saban around $10 million per year and at least make Bama match it.

What plan was orgeron?

Clearly he was plan B.

Plan A was to keep Miles.

Jimbo and Herman were just ploys to keep the fanbase happy.
