I know a lot of y’all drive 4runners and I can’t find much elsewhere on how to fix this.

I have a gen 5 4Runner platinum. Brought it in to get new tires today. When I got it back I put my front driver side window down on the way home. When I tried to roll it up it automatically went back down to halfway.

No matter what I do it keeps rolling down. Anyone have this issue before?

Yep. It's called owning a piece of shite.

Edit: my main problem is the engine in the vehicle. V6 5 speed with 270 up getting 17mpg (which is going to be a big deal in a few years). I get the price is attractive but you shouldn't be looking to accomplish off-roading on a budget.

The new tires shouldn't have anything to do with that. Just get it looked at before it might possibly fall down into the frame.

To answer the OP, this happened to our 4 runner a couple years ago. It was a small part that went out. Took it to dealer and they fixed it no problem. We were still in warranty.

I'd disconnect the battery and let it sit for 30 minutes.

I had a rear window issue with my Lexus. I read somewhere that if you hold down the window button in the front while slamming the back door it would fix it. It worked.

I dont remember if the process I described is exactly right but it was something like that.

Sounds like a contact on the switch is bad.
Take switch out, roll it up and then disable the switch. (Unplug harness) order a new window switch on Prime, have it Monday.

Impossible. 4runners last 15 years and 250k miles minimum without a single issue.

I haven't read all the responses, but if there's something blocking it from rolling all the way up it automatically rolls back down. Maybe something is jammed in the top?

Sounds like the anti trap function needs to be relearned. A quick Google search should tell you how to do it.

very common problem on toyota master switches...you have to pulse it back up, if you hold the button too long it reverts to automatic and comes down so just pulse it back to closed.

Did you try topping off your blinker fluid?

Try this OP.

This worked on my F-150, so may work on the 4Runner also.

I'm assuming you have to push down on the button to lower the window and pull up on it to raise it right?

If so, put the window down, then pull the switch up to raise the window and continue holding the switch until the window is all the way up and continue holding it for at least 5 seconds after its closed.

This can reset the auto-up/anti-pinch feature on some cars.
