There are 12 million reasons that disagree with that statement.

And if we had to pony up for the highest paid OC/DC tandem, was it STILL a good business move?

Yes, it is.

1. The buyout significantly drops in year 2 and year 3. It is highly unlikely any head coach at a major university is going to be fired after 1 year.

2. When you factor the buyout with what you are paying him, and then compare that to what you would have spent on a new coach (5-7 million) plus his buyout, you still likely end up better off.

3. Furthermore, even though we are paying our coordinators well, a new head coach would have still required strong coordinators themselves. So that really is a wash (considering their pay). At worst, maybe you save 500k a year between the 2.

4. And factoring in we are still paying Miles, and then what we have to pay O, it's a big win.

So, IMO, LSU made the best business move it could. If O wins 9 games this year and next (essentially equalling what Miles did his last 2 years), LSU wins big time.

And as I have stated for months, I think LSU will be a 9 win team this year and next and should trend up after that.

Change for the sake of change is fine if you’re talking about hairstyles, but not if you’re talking about operating a multi million dollar business. When you fire a successful coach, your accountability for replacing that coach with better goes up 10 fold and if you can’t do that, then firing the coach was a mistake. And it doesn’t matter whether any of us personally liked him or not.

With all due respect to the anybody but Miles group, you don’t get to traumatize LSU football program for your own selfish needs.
And to this point in time, that’s all that happened to LSU football. It is not one damn lick more effective a program than what it was before. If anything, the effort put forth by this team against state and Troy has shown it to be and less effective program. The comeback win over win over Aub. at home showed great effort, but that doesn’t excuse the embarrassment of either the state or Troy loss.
