I wonder if Sago Palm has the same effect on other animals as it does on dogs. It's a killer!
Here's the one I trapped last night. Let it go in the wild this afternoon.
Trap is reset for another one. In the last two years I've caught over twenty and one raccoon in Metairie.

Where are you releasing them?

I've got a small trap like that for squirrels. I need to get one that's larger. Got a coon that's been waking me up every night banging around on the baffle I put up to keep the squirrels off my bird feeders. It was standing on it eating away. It's at least two and a half feet from the baffle to that feeder. I can shine a flashlight on him from my bedroom window. It just stares until I bang on the window. Then it slowly climbs down. One night he waited thirty minutes and came back. Last night he was rattling it again by the time I put my light away. I turned on a replay of a game on the Big 10 Network and got back to sleeping.

Well is he really dead?
Which reminds me of
Which reminds me of
quote:
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a gun shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says "OK, now what?"

I caught a coon in mine a few weeks back and it was a big one. Not really sure how it wasn't able to get out.
Maurepas WMA. I don't mind the drive every once in a while but I already have another one in the trap this evening. Not sure I'll go back out there tomorrow. Either someplace closer tomorrow or I'll wait and do it Friday or Saturday. By then I could have another one or two.

That looks about the same size trap as mine. Maybe my coon will go into the little trap too. What did you put in it to get him?

Well, I thought it was true. Then when I tried to find a link to post here, I found it's only sort of true.
They eat a ton of ticks. But, also they're resistant to lyme disease which sort of breaks the cycle and doesn't allow the tick to contract it. Or something along those lines. It appears some of the stuff I'd read before wasn't entirely true, but the gist is - possums help control lyme disease.

I use dry dog food but canned cat food works really well too.

A can of mackerel mixed with some honey is like raccoon crack. If you want it to REALLY work, let it sit out for a couple days first. Wear gloves and when applying. You DO NOT want that on you.
