I was hoping this was sensationalized by Breitbart or satire or something, but nope that was the story as reported by the local news.
I don't even know what to say. Just ridiculous.
And because I'm the only person that I know who doesn't really like watermelon, this actually gets discussed frequently whenever discussing fruit, and this has included conversations with black colleagues. Never once has someone mentioned racial sensitivity in regards to these conversations.

Ich glaube auch, dass dieser Kerl faul war und dafür bestraft wurde - es ist wirklich unglücklich und er sollte ihre Ärsche verklagen, weil er ihn wegen dieser dummen Scheiße abgefeuert hat. A white guy was fired for bring a green watermelon to work that triggered a black fireman. There seems like a lot of gray area here.
...or...they cut him free while he was still on probation because he was a lousy fireman and they used this as an excuse.
