guys we ned to be a little more fair to key. The shoulder surgery was just in june and its impossible to get in football shape or any king of shape when you shoulder is in a sling or you can't lift it above your head. Lets see how he's playing at the end of the season.

Then he needs to wait till he's ready. If his backup is better at this time, then the better player needs to play. Period.

I disagree. Nobody forced him to take a leave of absence and it's been reported that he had surgery on his own, not LSUs, timeline with his own non LSU provided surgeon.

He came into camp overweight and out of shape.

He deserves all the criticism he gets and if he's really not into it, just bench him. He's a liability out their right now.

To say he won't be drafted is as dumb as saying O is a better coach than Nick Saban.

A bad shoulder doesn’t prevent someone from running. He looks like he has done zero conditioning of any kind.

Frankly, the whole situation seems off to me. He disappears for half the year, then comes back from his sabbatical only to need shoulder surgery...why couldn’t this have been done in May?

When he’s out there, he doesn’t even look like the same guy. Obviously he’s not playing great but there’s no intensity either. No wild celebrations when he does make a play like last year, just kinda looks “meh” all the time.

I don’t know what’s going on with him, but it’s not just a bum shoulder.

I actually thought he played a much improved game from last week. More effort.

Jonathon Allen had a great senior season and was projected to be a top 5 pick. He fell to 17 because of a bad shoulder. Key has a bad shoulder, under performing, and he's overweight.

Just like most guys, his body-type can only handle so much weight. He doesn't have wide shoulders, and cannot carry a lot of upper body weight. And, as this season has shown, he slows way down when he gets chub in the arse. He is starting to look a little better, so let's give him a chance to continue his rehab.

He really should stay another season but I doubt that will happen...

During his "hiatus" he rarely worked out. He needed time to fix his life but he has a pretty poor attitude about LSU football. He sees lsu as a stepping stone and knows he did enough last year.

a bad shoulder can keep you from running. you can"t pump your arms and run full speed. Also running shape is not football shape ask any good player and they will tell you that and you can't lift when you have a injured shoulder. Also can you blame the guy for getting a second opinion and having surgery with the amount of money that was on the line.

seems to me he was on roids last season and took a sabbatical to get his body use to being off them. Like an anyone, he is going to play at a much lower level and with much less intensity without the roids.

is it? No one knows why he disappeared for basically 6 months. He is a junior and supposed to be one of the team leaders but he checked out for the spring and much of the summer for unknown reasons.

Key's energy is gone. Last year he played like he was on cocaine last year. This year he's playing like he's on Xanax and he looks depressed.

Also, he was the most dominant defensive player in the SEC last year and asking him to gain weight was a huge mistake. A few more pounds of lean muscle would have been fine but adding fat to get bigger was stupid and took away his elite speed and agility.

Some of us know where he was and it's pointless posting it just to get whacked immediately. He wasn't in steroids. And I'm pretty sure he wasn't asked to gain weight

Thats fine, but he should sit the bench until he is back in shape. Chassion is the better option right now.

Where?

I know he won't stay next year but he really shoukd come back. He could be a #1 overall if he came back for senior year and showed dominance..

Pure conjecture on my part, but I wonder if what we are seeing with Key is someone who had severe MH issues over the Summer and is currently on psychotropics to manage it (i.e. SSRI/2nd gen antipsychotic combo). I don't think it is simply lack of effort on his part.
