This pretty much sums up why LSU is what it is. Alums from other schools could make this same argument but they don't.

From a PR standpoint, I would get rid of the high parking fees though. Even though they may be necessary to fill budget shortfalls, I think they hurt psychologically more than paying higher admin fees or something.
The University of Texas has an endowment about 30 times the size of LSU's, and all those fees are present in Austin.

I do, and to the law school and the alumni association.
You want to start donating, join the alumni association. Then you will get the requests for fundraising drives, the LSU Foundation, etc.
If every alum gave $50 a year every year, we could build a respectable endowment.

I love my alma mater, but LSU is a bureaucratic, innefficient mess. It would be like donating money to the parish or state government. If that were to change, I would readily donate. Until then, I find it a huge waste of money.

Because at some point during your time at LSU, you were impacted by a donor who gave their hard-earned money to LSU. Whether it was that professor who taught you the class that got you the GPA to get into med school, or the lab equipment you worked on in Chemistry class.

You can designate your funds via the LSU Foundation to a specific department, scholarship fund, etc.

Buying those lists are expensive. It's a catch 22.
Just fill out the updated form and go on your way.
You could also just make a gift online...even just a few bucks and it'll be updated.

No, I'm a recent grad who compared peer school endowments with ours and was shocked. I'm proud of the education and value I received from LSU, but would like to to see the university rise in terms of economic and social impacts to the state and region. A healthy, growing endowment goes a long way towards reaching that goal.

I'm looking at the LSU Foundation website, and unless I'm missing something, this seems to be more geared to people who are able to donate in the thousands and above at a time, or those giving long term gifts. I'm kind of ignorant on how these things work, but why is there not a "Donate Now" button for those of us who are more casual donators?
