If you were scheming a defense would you be more concerned with any of the Pels wings shooting an open 3 or AD/DC getting the ball against a single defender? The only way there wouldn't be 4 guys in the paint is if they added shooters who had earned reputations like Korver and Ryno.
Yes, teams will absolutely shift all of their focus to AD/DC. Which is why putting shooters out there is the most obvious move in the world. They don't need to be Korver-level, pulling guys from AD/DC. Whole point is to take advantage of the wide open looks they're gonna get. There's a wide swath of competent shooters between Kyle Korver and Tony Allen.
Our offense sucked last year. The idea that Tony Allen doesn't make it worse, but maintains the status quo, is of no comfort.

I think you're misunderstanding my argument. I'm just against overreacting to a lateral move. If you thought the offense was going to be terrible before Hill got injured, then feel free to continue with that opinion after replacing Hill with Allen. The only improvement to the offense Allen might bring is Miller starting.
I very much am pro adding shooters. Before the Hill injury I thought it was possible that our bench units would likely be better and more balanced than our starting 5 because they probably wouldn't have both Rondo and Hill in them.

Any shooter that they afford would be dog shite on defense, so it would probably be a zero sum game.

It is remarkable. After watching 20 games of Cousins/Davis, shooting was #1 on the wish list this summer. They added Miller and Clark but also Rondo and Allen.
