I always unhook mine when not in use. Just an extra 6 inches on the back of truck to have to worry about.

Seems like most baws just leave it there and let it rust stuck

Leaving your hitch on is trashy

I do. Saved my bumper when some idiot rolled into me at a red light. Dented up their Mercedes good. No damage to my car.

No. It causes problems for me off-road.

Last time I took it off I left it on my bumper. Stays on all the time now

Mine stays in. I got rear-ended a couple of times and enjoyed added protection. Fricks up the other car pretty bad though.

I leave mine on. This summer I was pulling my boat at least twice a week, and this winter I'll be pulling my four wheeler trailer two or three times a week. Put a locking pin on it, and forget about it.

That'd put me at a solid 9 inches

I usually remove it when I'm not using it. I'll bust a knee or a shin every time if I don't.

I take mine out. I have no real issue with people who don't provided they maintain some spatial awareness.

When they back into a parking spot near a sidewalk and stick that shin busting SOB out over the sidewalk it drives me crazy. Though it's not funny if you or your kid hits it. I always remove mine.
