Recruiting absolutely matters. What does not matter are stars.

what are the odds that 3* athlete will outperform a 5* athlete? they're obviously 5* and 3*s for a reason. if they don't matter so much, let's eliminate them all together.

There's a saying that a 3 star from SoFla is a 5 star anywhere else.

I typically would agree that it's more likely a 5 star will be better than a 3 star, but I would also say that I trust Mac's evaluations. He's got several 3 stars out of high school that have played well above their recruiting ranking in his two seasons so far. And he's got them playing and contributing at a high level early in their career. David Reese was a Freshman All SEC guy, Jawaan Taylor was a freshman All American, and we all know what guys like Vosean Joseph, Tyler Jordan, Kylan Johnson, and Antonio Callaway have meant to our team. I think Mac has shown he can evaluate beyond recruiting rankings in his time here. He hasn't given me a reason (yet) to not trust his judgement on kids who can or cannot play.
