I maintain that people only ever say stars don't matter when they aren't getting the best players.
When we start getting top 5 recruiting classes again, people will tout our amazing classes. They did it under Meyer and they will do it again when it comes back around here.

When a coach has success, their offer causes recruiting services to bump up that recruit. The Bama bump is real.
Also recruiting services do not look at roster balance. Muschamp had top 10 classes 3 out of the 4 years, but OL and WR talent and depth was extremely lacking when Mac was hired.
