According to researchers at Oregon Health and Science University, people who use marijuana more than five times per month have a lower body mass index (BMI) than people who do not marijuana.
“Heavy users of cannabis had a lower mean BMI compared to that of never users, with a mean BMI being 26.7 kg/m in heavy users and 28.4 kg/m in never users.”
The study also suggested that people who consume marijuana on a regular basis are more physically activity than those that use it sporadically or not at all.

Of course, this is not the first time scientific studies have reached this conclusion:
-A study published last year in the Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics suggests that regular consumers of cannabis have a lower BMI than those who do not use the drug.
-A 2013 study published in the American Journal of Medicine found that cannabis consumers have 16 percent lower levels of fasting insulin and 17 percent lower insulin resistance levels than non-users. The research found “significant associations between marijuana use and smaller waist circumferences.”
-And data published in British Medical Journal in 2012 reported that cannabis consumers had a lower prevalence of type 2 diabetes and a lower risk of contracting the disease than did those with no history of cannabis consumption.

The researchers were previously employed by the tobacco lobby

Look, I don't care how much weed you smoke or what you do while you're high. I certainly don't think it should be illegal. But you're not going to convince me that smoking weed is going to make my life better. At best, it won't make my life worse.

I just got out of the mountains. Hiked stoned the entire day. It made it better.

I don't smoke anymore but my friends who consume will definitely sit around getting high and then get this wild arse idea to go to the river and get high.

They seem to keep forgetting to do a study on the effects regular marijuana use has on education and employment/career path. I don't know any successful potheads outside of musicians and athletes.

Probably because most cannabis users are homeless who are skinny and walk everywhere to get where they need to go.

Completely anecdotal, but I definitely ate less at night when I smoked. Was much easier to fall asleep on an empty stomach or with a light snack.
Now if I don't eat a substantial meal after dark I will lay awake for hours unless I take melatonin, something cannabis encourages the body to produce.

I would also like to see the age on those that consume versus those that do not.

I was fit when I was toking, running from the police

These researchers had to be high when the study was written.

Probably so. Job hunting burns a lot of calories I'd expect
