Going to Vegas on Allegiant in August. Anybody flown with them, how was the experience?

Their primary business model is to provide affordable direct routes from smaller regional airports to popular destinations like Vegas or Orlando.

They're great because a person can fly direct and cheap from places like Shreveport or Fayetteville without a connecting flight through a major hub like DFW, Houston, or ATL.

They fly older planes, charge for everything, and often only have 1 flight/day without any other flights or planes available if a problem occurs with your plane.

Delays are common. The good thing is it's a direct flight, so a 45 minute delay won't cause you to miss a connecting flight.

I would expect a delay, but nothing that will set you back too terribly much. I think my flight out (to orlando) was 45 min delayed and my flight back into BR was an hr or two. Nothing that broke my day... or my wallet

Absolute worst experience I ever had. Flight was delayed for over 8 hours before finally being cancelled at midnight. Waited at the ticket desk for over 45 minutes for someone to show up, couldn't answer if they could refund my ticket so told me to call customer service. That took over an hour before being taken off of hold. Wouldn't refund my tickets but gave me a $100 voucher for future tickets, but no hotel or anything for the night (luckily it was my flight out of MSY so I had a place to stay). The worst part was they knew well before cancelling the flight that the pilots had flown their max time for the day and wouldn't be able to fly out that night, if they would have made it known instead of constantly reassuring us the flight would be leaving it wouldn't have been so bad, and I could have gotten another flight that night.

We went to Vegas from Shreveport years ago in order to do some hiking in Utah.

It was like the Wal Mart of airlines. Mostly trashy people.

If they could make planes that ran on pain and suffering, Allegiant would be set.

I'd compare it to staying at a Motel 6. You got a bed to sleep in, but you kind of wish you would've just paid the extra money for the Hampton Inn.

Their flights are very cheap. I was thinking of taking one to Cleveland from MSY to bring the kids to Cedar point and Niagara Falls.

Allegiant from Fayetteville to Vegas is horrible, avoid at all cost.

Flew RT from MSY to Charlotte (Concord). Cheap, easy, no issues. That Concord airport was small and super-efficient too.

I have flown that route a couple of times. allegiant is cheap for a reason...because they cut corners any way they can. airplanes are old and shitty and if a flight is much less than full, it will be canceled. those on the flight generally aren't the kind of folks you want to be snuggled up with for that long.

fact is, the flights are cheap and are direct flights, so that makes them the best way there is to get to Vegas...it is all manageable, as long as you know what to expect.
