Pain for a day. Ice for two days. Uncomfortableness for three months, but not real pain. Also know that I have gotten laid way more frequently since. Sex life improved drastically afterwards in many aspects.

No pain that I remember, never took any meds or used ice, everything worked the same. After I divorced was when I fully realized what a great thing I had done.

Wasn't that bad of an experience. When I was finished my wife asked me how was it? I told her that some girl I had never seen before grabbed my dick and taped it to my chest (well probably closer to my belly button than my chest) and proceeded to play with my balls for a few minutes (when I say play with my balls, I really mean she used a plastic Bic razor to shave any and all hair in the region off). She was very vigorous in her shaving that I asked her if she was making the "cut" or the doctor.
After it was done the Doctor gave me two prescriptions to have my wife fill since I was not supposed to be driving. One for a pain pill which I took one of because I wasn't sure of what pain might be coming (never took another one). The other was for a twelve pack of beer. He said to get home and start drinking and put two beers in the freezer. When I got finished with the first beer I was supposed to start drinking another and grab one beer from the freezer and place it between my legs and replace it with another one in the freezer. He said when I got finished with that one to drink the one between my legs and put one from the freeze between my legs and replace until I finished the twelve pack. He said it was better than a bag of peas, he was right.
For the first 6 months after, on occasion I would get a slight numb feeling which wasn't pain but it didn't feel normal. After that I haven't had that numb feeling again and that was 12 years ago.

It wasn't "nothing" like a lot of people say, but it wasn't terrible. I didn't have any bad pain (the worst was numbing up the boys) and it was over quick. I'd say it's just an uncomfortable 15 minutes. You're in a room with a surgical blanket draped over you with an opening to yank your junk through for everyone in the room to look at. My doctor gave me Valium ahead of time and plenty of pain pills afterwards. It's worth it to not have another kid raising hell.

Frozen bag of English peas will be your best friend for a couple days.
After a couple weeks you can get back to business. After a few months and your wife's pills wear off....dear God.
You'll find those suppressed her drive a bit

Lucky for me, my vasectomy coincided with nursing student training day at the urologist. Four young, female nursing students took it all in. The urologist did ask for my permission, but when you've had your nuts shaved and your johnson taped to your belly, adding a few observers doesn't matter much.
The worst parts:
The shot of anesthesia to kick things off. In the nuts. It was AWFUL; definitely the worst part of the whole experience.
After the cut, they cauterize the two loose ends. It produces smoke, and a disagreeable smell, of your body burning.
I knew there would need to be a "test" after healing was finished to ensure that the swimmers were absent, but I was under the impression that I'd be invited to perform at some idyllic spank bank at the doctor's office. Lounge chairs, lamp lighting, Toto on the stereo, selections in print and video. No such luck. They gave me a vial to fill at home, which I then needed to hand to the woman at the check-in desk at the doctor's office. "Here ya go." Very disappointing.
I had it done on a Friday morning. Didn't feel too bad but followed post-op instructions to a tee anyway. Alternated bags of frozen peas. No problems. A buddy of mine had his done the same day (different doctor), felt great, and went out and played 18 holes on Saturday. That poor fricker hobbled around for weeks!

No problems - only little quirk: wife continued to take the pill afterwards. She said she liked the way they tasted.

I got vasectomy pain syndrome. You can look it up. They think it is basically your body being allergic to your sperm.
Mine started after 6 months with swollen balls. At the one year mark it was painful to get an erection. When I ejaculated there would be about a 30 second delay, and then pain that would make my eyes water.
I was bad like that for about a year. Then with some steroid shots it slowly started getting better. Mostly went away after about 5 years. I would say it is 95% gone now. I still feel a slight twinge a minute or two after ejaculation.
Do some research on it. It's real.

I ate pain pills for a week and then banged and/or got a handy from the wife like every other day for a couple of weeks. All in all, not a bad experience.

I have 2 words for you. FROZEN PEAS. After my vasectomy I spent 3 days with a bag of frozen peas between my legs. It was so effective I didnt even need my pain meds and at the end I went on with life as if nothing had ever happened.

Had mine done on a Thursday and back at work on a Tuesday. Listen to the Dr and do nothing except ice and lay around all weekend. It does feel like someone kicked you in the nuts for a day or two. Not a bad experience.
Also a little awkward when the nurse walks in and it is a girl you went to HS with.

Just had mine yesterday. Did it with only local. Besides the prep when he was squeezing the shite out of my nuts, the local was the worst part. Imagine a yellow jacket sting to the nuts...twice. Now I find ice and wearing supportive compression shorts helps a lot. Doc gave me some pain pills that I wouldn't take without a scrip but might as well if I have permission

Recovery was no problem.
The worst thing was seeing smoke and smelling burning during the procedure....

I'm in the operating room everyday so the smell and smoke wasn't new to me. What was new was it being my flesh and tissue. Kind of weird. He also burned one spot that wasn't covered by the local. Boy that was fun. The scrub tech had to hold be down because I jumped from the electric shock that radiated from my sac to my butthole.
