What kind of kibble are you feeding them?

If they don't suffer from any food allergies, Victor is a very good brand (great reviews) that averages out to about a $1 per pound.

Because my dog is allergic to carrots, I can't use Victor. Instead, we're on a grain-free diet and I use Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Grain-Free Dry Dog Food, 30-lb bag. Cost is $48.99 shipped to my door. Not great. But not bad (as far as pricing is concerned).

They some sweet babies. We bred our AKC female with an AKC male. We had a litter of 5 and kept these two.

We used to get pure balance a wall-Mart brand with a half decent dog food rating. We mixed it with wet.

After we kept two pups and went to 4 dogs we went cheap. Its pedigree now.

Obviously you have to do what you have to do to work with your budget and I'm not telling you to switch dog food brands, but Pedigree (while they have a great "marketing" brand) doesn't put out a great product in comparison to other dog food labels.

Again, you have some beautiful Rottweilers and I know you will do what you think is best for them -- so please don't take my message the wrong way.

I know all about most mainstream dog food and how shitty it is. Just can't do the good shite as it is too expensive for the amount we go through.

Ever tried feeders that lets them eat whenever and however much they want?

We use one and to me they seem to eat less when they realize that the food is always available.

Research tells me one thing, but The Sandlot tells me another. I'm confused.

No, I find that when you leave food out for them, they'll eat when they want to, which doesn't work for my schedule.

I'd rather stick to a routine, because it fits what I want, plus I can better control that bladder and bowels.

My dobe is 3 and we switched him to the same food about a year and a half ago and have been pleased with it. We feed him 2 cups in the morning and 2 at night. Same thing, he gets his food when he gets it, not all day, but he is food driven so he wouldn't leave it out long at all. He is tall too, and has been holding his weight right around 90 lbs. I try taking him to the dog park a few times a week but all of this rain has been killing that. What park do y'all go to?

One thing the Sandlot got right is English Mastiffs actually are fast, at least while they're young.

They mope around the house and can appear real slow. But you don't want one chasing you.

They are damn good dogs though.
