Naw. I'm just giving his stereotyping of victims back to him.

Something has to be wrong with me because I don't pander and make excuses for stupid people.
Your excusing one in this thread.
Darwinism applied means the weak and stupid get extracted from the gene pool by means of natural selection.
The weak and stupid among the two is still alive.

Who doesn't care? I do. But many of those were not out right killings by unreasonable cops. I understand what what happened here, and everybody should. It's just as wrong for people to think the cop was 100% in the right as it is for people to think he was looking for a reason to shoot somebody. Both sides are silly.

Are we reading the same thread? Who doesn't care?
There has been several claiming it's ok for a cop to kill because he claims he was scared
There has been several claiming it's ok for a cop to kill because he claims he was scared

He wasn't looking to shoot someone. He is physically unable to do the job because his brain lacks the capacity to rationally evaluate situations of uncertainty and he killed someone he shouldn't have.

Agreed. BLM is an impediment to real reform. Not a catalyst.

Yes, but to think cops are looking for someone to kill? On purpose, for no reason? I interact with a lot of cops (People I know)...I have seen one incident in which I thought it was handled poorly...and I honestly believe it was a racist thing with this cop. However, to paint all or most, or even a lot of cops as looking to kill someone for no good reason is silly.

When will we start admitting that simply choosing the career path of police officer (or soldier) isn't inherently admirable?
OF course that is true. There are bad people who are cops and or soldiers. This guy may have even been a bad guy, who knows. But what we do know is that that stupid idiot should have stoppped moving when a LEO ordered him to, he'd almost certainly be alive today.
You know, it is possible to both believe maybe it wasn't necessary to shoot the guy dead AND believe the idiot himself bears the brunt of the responsibility for not sitting still.

No, he doesn't bare the brunt of the responsibility. Sorry, but he calmly and respectfully telling the cop he had a firearm. That's not step one of using it on the cop.

So? It doesn't need to be.

Correct. Just as it's silly to paint Castile as a victim of "Darwinism."

So, any person who is rationally evaluating the situation doesn't fire seven shots into the person who just calmly and respectfully told you they had a firearm. The officer was clearly unable to adequately perform his job.

One issue is various departments have differing policy. I've been scolded by a cop for reaching for papers and other times been expected to have papers ready

For the fourth time in this thread, the police officer did not tell Castile to stop moving.

I don't think that is what they were saying...or meant. (Maybe a troll or two)
Most people are saying they understood that the cop was scared because he realized there was a gun in the car and Castile kept moving around after being told not to.
If I am a cop, I am scared, too. The guy should not have had a gun in his car in the first place.
No, I am not saying he deserved it. But:
1. He got the Carry Permit illegally.
2. He was smoking weed shortly before the stop.
3. He ignored instructions to stop reaching for something the officer could not see.
It's not like Castile had no blame in this. He never should have had the gun in his possession. Had he obeyed the law, he would still be alive.
Posted on 6/22/17 at 12:08 pm to RogerTheShrubber
Agreed. And the default step one should not be shrieking and unholstering your gun if the person does something slightly unexpected.

He told him to stop reaching for something the officer could not see. It's pretty much the same thing. However, if you want to get technical, Castile never should have had the gun in the car in the first place.

In a vacuum where that is all that happened, sure. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

His girlfriend said that they smoked weed on a regular basis. When he applied for the Carry Permit a question on the form asked it he did illegal drugs. (Probably not the exact wording) If you admit to doing controlled substances you will be turned down for a permit.
