I refuse to believe a team led by Mark Rypien is the best in NFL history

1994 49ers were probably the best team I ever saw.

The stats say it all and Rypien that year was the most efficient QB in the NFL, league MVP and Super Bowl MVP: 28-11 TD/INT ratio, 59% pass completion pct, 8.5 Y/A, and 14.3 Y/C.

The 2010 San Diego Chargers

Their case:

#1 offense in the league
#1 defense in the league

9-7 and missed the playoffs.

84' 49ers and best show on turf would likely get my vote. The cowboys teams of the 90's would get some consideration I would think.

Actually, it was the '07 Patriots that was the best NFL team ever, but because of that improbable catch by David Tyree, they will never be recognized as such.

And by the way, if Turner Gill would have completed that 2pt. conversion in the '84 Orange Bowl, the '83 Nebraska team would be a top 5 all-time great college football team.

Lol stopped reading here.

Anyone that names someone besides the 1989 49ers or 1992 Cowboys is trying too hard

How so? They possessed all the elements to constitute a truly great, dominant team and dominated opponents accordingly particularly in a very tough division. Also must account for the tough SOS and their playoff performance(20 pt MOV average).

I saw a documentary on those Bills teams that made four straight super bowls and Don Beebe said the 91 redskins was the best team he had ever seen. I feel the 91 skins were top 5 easily. They didn't have a single weakness and were strong in every category of the game.

85 Bears can beat almost every single ones of those stats

Yes, GOAT defense: no. 1 total defense, no. 1 in forcing TOs, no. 1 in pass defense and no. 1 in rush defense, the quadruple crown. Also, that Eagles defense was the best total defense by a factor of 400 yards-absolutely legendary.
