So the Guardian didn't interview the people that stated that and are now a part of the conservative movement in London?

Reading is hard. Police shot the dudes within 8 minutes of receiving their first call.
First off, there ARE statements that unarmed "bobbies" were there, and ran away. We don't know if this occurred before, during, or after the "chair throwing", but the fact remains- if these officers had sidearms, the effective police intervention would have been faster than 8 minutes, and possibly saved some lives. I don't think anyone can dispute that.
Second point, and something EVERYONE should take a moment to consider: I just took a quick look at my iPod, and 8 minutes is approximately the amount of time it takes for 2 songs to play completely. So, go pop some headphones on, and mull that concept over, while you listen to some music....
there apparently were "police" on hand at the time this started, but due to outdated traditions, they were useless. so go ahead and play your 2 songs, and imagine that you have 3 people attacking a crowd (maybe YOU) with knives, that entire time, before more police actually armed and capable of dealing with the event show up.
For perspective, most action scenes in a movie don't last even the length of 1 song.
That is a LONG TIME to have to fend for yourself, when you consider if the original bobbies simply had a handgun, this could have been avoided.

The police were running away, they were community police. They were normal officers, they were running away.
Why on God's earth would you have unarmed police in position to do something to stop this? Understand, it was a raised threat level country!
fricking dumb arse liberal thinking!

The British Police I know say you're wrong.
Ok.
Just relaying the info.
I got a hand full of friends that work for the police over there.
After the last attack we had this talk and they still preferred to be unarmed.
In their minds, being unarmed helps them be better accepted by the community they are policing. They think that is why police in America is so disrespected but they also agree that police in America has to be armed.

Unarmed police should be armed with late 1970s steel baseball bats. Squash a few terrorist pumpkins in the street and see if it is worth it for these darlings of progressives.

Take your own advice! Can you not read? Here is the direct quote from the article!
The police were running away, they were community police. They were normal officers, they were running away.
Note: They were normal officers. If they were equivalent to mall security it is only because they were unarmed.
Am I misunderstanding something? By saying they were normal officers, aren't they saying they were regular police officers?

If the officers that were on hand were armed, I wonder how long it would have taken them to shoot the terrorists?

Eyewitness reports immediately after an event are often wrong. And the last part is a LOL.
Many of the wounded are unarmed police officers who were wounded attempting to take down the attackers. The BTO and Met have already put out statements about this.
And what do you mean about my profile?
ETA:
I also love how you will post FAKE NEWS!!!! to anything that disagrees with you, but will take absolutely any line of a news story that fits your narrative as the inerrant word of God.

There is actually a difference between a PCSO (community police - basically, the people who would be out stopping drunks) and a normal officer. The statement isn't clear on what the person saw.
