"The Secret" gold spoon failure

The hook pulled out the weld to the spoon body. Lost a solid 28-30" red at the side of the kayak as a result.
This is the second time this has happened to me this year. Any other suggestions for weedless gold spoons?

I know a lot of spoons are made this way but it sure seems like a poor design. seems like you could use a longer shank on the hook and attach it at the tie on point.

Unless you need true weedless, stop using spoons altogether. Spot Remover is so much better.

I never had that problem with a Johnson Gold or Black spoon.
ETA; Do yall tie a swivel about 8-10" away from the spoon? I do, I find it keeps your line from getting twisted.
I use my main line which is normally 14# Cajun Line then a small barrel swivel, then a 30lb mono leader, then the spoon. I find I have way less break offs and backlashes.

Aqua dream spoons. You can replace the hooks on them. There is a little screw that holds it in place. The "weedless" wire can be replaces as well. I think they sell them in kits so you can get a bunch of color options.

I used to throw 1/8 spoons and it would break all the time. I think they were Johnson.

I use a Johnson sprite w, split ring, barrel swivel, then mono. They've fricked up the weed guard, but I've never had them break the hook off the spoon.
I have had them straighten the hook on 1/8 oz spoons. Too small.

Always used Johnson 3/4 oz. for 20 years - never had that happen.

I love the wobble right spoons. Find I catch more fish on them than a regular spoon

I use the Secretand have never had a problem with them. The weedless wire does tend to break off after a couple big reds. However, this weekend I finally switched over to an inline spinner and might not look back. It did great in the grass as well.

I love Wob-L-rites, I fished one several times this weekend since we had 4 others fishing with live shrimp. Caught 8- 10 trout, 5 reds, and hooked up to either a bull red or a jack that broke my line. Just wish they were easier to find, I usually load up when I find them at bait shops.

I order mine off EBay. I can't find them at the big box stores anymore

I gave up one weedless gold spoons for this very reason. Switched over to inline spinners.
