Looking for specific areas/trails for an overnight backpacking hike within a day's drive of New Orleans (Northshore).

Drive west of Austin to Inks Lake. Beautiful, only 7 hrs away and has some great backpacking.

Sipsey Wilderness and Cheaha State park in Alabama have both been on my list of places to go. Both about 7 hours from Baton Rouge area.

Y'all stay out of my woods! And, if you don't, at least don't kill my rattlesnakes.

Can you briefly tell me about some of the trails in Sipsey/Bankhead? Parking, best trails, etc. I recently bought property on Smith Lake near Houston and want to get to learn the area.
