Kim is not the same stuff as Jimmy. She isn't a crook like him. She dipped her toes into that life a little as a thrill with Jimmy when they ran that cheap con, but it isn't really who she is. It was just a taste for her to know that it really isn't for her, and it also was a way for her to get a peak into who Jimmy really is.

Kim is a competent, hardworking attorney who doesn't take short cuts or expose herself or her clients to unnecessary risks. This is who her character has been built up to be. For her to take some turn as being part of Saul's seedy law firm with money laundering and deals with drug dealers would be a complete break from who her character has been built to be. It just wouldn't make sense. It also would simply just be too forced and contrived to try to retcon something like that.

I am pretty close to 100% confident that does not happen. Some sort of falling out between her and Jimmy is bound to happen. There is just about no other way that it could happen. It's still possible but less likely that it is some more gentle parting, but there is no way that they are still in close contact during the events of BB.

Also, keeping Kim's character in mind, Jimmy may have something planned like stealing the tape, but I think it's very unlikely that Kim would have anything to do with that kind of strategy. Kim's role in it will have something to do with attacking Chuck's character or credibility, which might be underhanded but is still an actually legitimate legal strategy.

Jonathan Banks on Conan tonight, FYI.

Great episode. Next week is gonna be a barn-burner, can't wait. Oh, the things I would've done in high school with 24 hours' worth of OT on my check, lol...

I agree with this, but it is also part of why I think she is half of Saul. Their strengths and weaknesses compliment each other perfectly. I think when Saul needs help from her side he will give her hypothetical scenarios and not the full details. This way she will have some plausible deniability, yet still able to help.

I believed this all the way up until this season and I think that was the writers original intention. They had it all set up for a break up with this Mesa Verde situation. It looked like Jimmy was busted which would cause her to lose her big client and possibly her law license.

This didn't happen though. She is completely by his side and they look as if they will come out winners in this. I believe the writers have changed course due to Kim's popularity and the popularity of her and Jimmy's relationship. The on screen chemistry between those two really is fun to watch.

Vince can call an audible and make it work.

Pinkman was supposed to die in season 1. Imagine that relationship never being able to bloom.

This is exactly what I think has happened. Their relationship was set up for disaster after last season. Now everything is just peachy and Kim has been playing a bit dirty ever since season 3 started. It's like they are fast tracking her over to the dark side.

I think the chemistry between them just makes for a better show.

It's why in the long run they can never be together. The show has repeatedly, including in this season, shown how his penchant for cutting corners, taking the easy way out, and breaking rules clashes with Kim's hard work and simple prudence. This opposition is leading somewhere. It isn't just pointless banter.

They don't have to retcon her into a show that isn't even part of this storyline to keep her around. By the time she makes her complete cut with Jimmy isn't that distant from when BB begins.

This is exactly right, but all those traits may be what keeps Saul from a crash and burn much sooner. It may be that she keeps him in line all they way up until Walt's situation gets completely out of hand.

Of course they don't, but it would be very interesting if they did. It would add a whole new wrinkle to BB. Imagine how awesome a scene would be where Jimmy/Saul meets Kim for dinner to vent and get advice because of one of Walt and Jesse's major problems.

Great episode-pretty much completely due to Gus/Mike. Anyone think the writers regret using Saul as the vehicle for this spin off?

No. I think swapping between Mike and Jimmy's story is a great one two combo. If it was only Mike and Gus it would simply be breaking bad the prequel. Their story I think is also more predictable than Jimmy's

Plus Jimmy is still alive so it has endless possibilities where Gus and Mike's story has ended.

I agree with that, it's just such a major drop off from Mike & Gus.

I think that's because they are doing the slow burn thing with Jimmy and feeding our appetite with Mike. If this is anything like BB Jimmy's story will be great towards the end of the show.

Every time they go from Gus/Mike to jimmy I'm let down. Hopefully his story starts to pick up.

The slow burn approach is great when you can binge watch after the series has ended. It's a bit tough though when you are watching it in the moment.

Nah. Jimmy's storyline is great and entertaining. Seeing his devolution is good TV. I think this show has about two more seasons in it.

I agree. Also Odenkirk has really turned into a solid actor.

A question for anyone.

When Jimmy was back in Chicago doing the wallet/fake Rolex con with Marco, did he use the name "Saul Goodman" during one of the cons?

Just curious.I can't remember exactly but I remember something along that line.

TIA

Jimmy said "it's all good man". Sounded like Saul Goodman.

I think it was Jimmy that said it.

I believe as they were walking into the alley, the mark apologized and said he never got his name. Jimmy replied that "it's all good man.", while barely hitting the I and T in its.
