had to bring back a Pope today to take over the dioceses, it would be Pope Urban. Enjoy.

I'd prefer Pope Formosus. This badass was put on trial and convicted of perjury, so his fingers were cut off and he was thrown in the river. He was already dead and was exhumed for the trial.

How could any pope be any better or worse than any other? Aren't they all anointed by God to be his representative on Earth? Aren't they all infallible when supposedly channeling God? If not, then what are any of them worth?

If you mean abandoning the principles of Christ to gain favor among the godless, yes, you're right.

I'm not sure if you remember Jesus correctly or just trolling, but that's exactly what Jesus did. Lepers...ho's...those gentiles (yes, I know what gentile means), he hung out with them all.

Now, Francis is not Jesus, but he is actually practicing what Jesus preached and working with/accepting the "undesirables"

Reagan as President with PJPII as a kid was the best this world ever had to offer.

Been a huge disappointment ever since.

John Paul II was a great man, but he completely failed with the sex abuse scandal.

When the story broke in 2002, he was walking on the front lawn on his way to death's door. I don't fault him for that. I do fault the men who he surrounded himself with who failed to act appropriately.

Maybe it is the era we grew up in? Pjp11 was the icon along with Reagan, but dang I'm 45. I'm even protestent! But during the military training I always attended mass, I have respect for the roam catholic Church, and Pope Jon paul 2, is my first recall!###, and no I didn't take sacrements, b/c I know the rules! Dated a great gal through college that never missed a Holly day of obligation!

No.

They are anointed by men who pray that the Holy Spirit guides them in making the right choice. As they are all sinful men, the choices they make can be just as fallible as ours.

Occasionally they get it wrong (Alexander VI) and occasionally they get it right (John Paul II).

You do realize the New Testament was being written as the Church was originally forming, do you not? Peter and Paul were both likely still alive in Rome, and James was still alive in Jerusalem, when Luke wrote the Acts of the Apostles. Pope Clement's epistle to the Corinthians, written about 85-90 AD, is the oldest extrabiblical writing we have from the early Church. Writing from Rome, Clement lays down the law and shows the earliest examples of papal authority as he does it.

Helping cover up the pedophilia scandals?

I mean I guess that's boss in a JoePa kind of way.

Or are you referring to his time in the Hitler Youth?

In elementary school religion class, I had to memorize all of the popes since the 1700s so I probably recognize like 20 of them. Talk about your useless knowledge.

I'm not arguing the content of your post, but this sentence structure is the most obnoxious and condescending style of writing ever created
