I've worked in the woods for over 40 years and hunted since I was 10. I believe the rattlesnake is the most docile snake of all that exist in La.
I'd rather encounter any number of rattlers than a pissed off cottonmouth or copperhead.

Several things about that scenario look scripted to me.

The tree and woods look more like a backyard than a turkey hunt. And, it doesn't say why he laid his gun down, got up, and came back to where he was sitting. That doesn't add up. And, the snake never sticks its tongue out to smell him in the video. It never moves. Looks like a mounted snake and a setup scene to me.

Timber rattlers are generally pretty reluctant to bite. They'd much rather just sit still and hope you don't see them. They start rattling and biting when you step on them, or some dumbass starts poking them with a stick. I've walked all around them snapping photos and they usually just sit still if they're coiled up and don't feel exposed.
