Will be there next month, looking forward to it. I know we'll take a tour of the Alamo but not sure how long that will take. Our hotels on the river.

I like the Six Flags there. Great fun if you are in to that type of thing.
Also, Lula's Mexican Cafe for lunch. Near the river walk.

Thanks for the help! I've heard the river walk is amazing.

Alamo was kind of boring to us but we aren't really big history buffs. You can see it in 30 min or 3hrs, depends on how interested you are. We liked Sea Workd, the zoo and you could spend a couple days on the Riverwalk. Definitely won't go hungry. My favorite was the Melting Pot (not on the river) but I'd never eaten at a fondue place before.

I thought the Riverwalk was overrated. Nasty water, lots of trash and homeless people all over. Seemed like a tourist trap and not much going on. Maybe I went during a dead period but was really disappointed with the area around Riverwalk.

Maybe 30-45 minutes. It's pretty small.
Menger Hotel bar was cool - lots of history. Mission San Jose was good just go early to avoid crowds and heat.

went with the fam over mardi gras. Riverwalk is ok, touristy, a few bums but an ok way to kill an hour or so. you can drink on the riverwalk but NOT at the alamo
sea world was fun but it had just opened and the crowd was light. I can see where it'd be miserable on a hot day with a big crowd and long lines. may want to go on a week day and early if possible.
there's a place(forget the name) where you can tour caverns and do a driving wildlife tour. if you have kids, I def recommend. the caverns take a little over an hour and same for the wildlife tour.
The alamo is cool if you're into history but it won't take more than an hour or two. there's a few tourist things to check out near the alamo as well.
we didn't hit the zoo but I hear it's great. if your wife likes to shop, send her to the outlet mall in san marcos. my credit card was smoking when she was done.

Rosarios isn't far from river walk. Great food and drinks
For a great burger, Chris Madrids
Dough for wood fired pizzas. Pretty damn good. Was on DD&D
La Fogata has a great patio scene and drinks if you want to do a date night
I love the Alamo. It's self paced so you can spend anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours
FYI if you're staying on the river walk they have a trolley that takes you around downtown and to the Mexican market.

Natural Bridge Caverns - a short drive away and awesome

Natural bridge caverns is way better than sea world.
Sea world is a joke. I went for free and felt ripped off. They have the dolphins, whales, gators, sea lions and that's about it. Your gonna walk a quarter mile between the exhibits too.

We love Ray's Drive Inn for puffy tacos. Jacala is another pretty good Tex mex place. Neither are on the river walk but worth the drive. The Esquire Bar is pretty cool on the river. Get breakfast tacos somewhere. The more hole in the wall, the better.

My friend from HS runs a bike touring company that does outstanding tours. Took a group of friends last year and all agreed it was highlight of the weekend.

You can do everything in San Antonio in no time.
Unless you really immerse yourself I can't see spending more than a half day at the Alamo.
You can walk through the Alamo in an hour.
The River Walk is ok but again kind of touristy. They offer the boat rides in the river and they give you the history.
Geunther House is the Pioneer brand store, really good place to grab breakfast one morning. If you don't have a rental, it's a short cab ride from hotels on River Walk but you might have to uber it back.
