Please don't unless it's on a Smith.

Get you some wrestling shoes. Best damn squat shoes you will own. They are also great for deads and jumping rope. I probably wear them more than my regular gym shoes.

Have you had any ankle/knee/leg injuries?

I had an ankle injury. Running barefoot was the only thing that got my ankle back in shape to do any serious weight for squats and deadlifts again. I use the vibram five fingers.

It feels strange at first but you notice a difference almost immediately.

I've been contemplating buying those. How are they?

That's a given. Just wondering about their comfort and functionality.

I deadlift with no shoes

It reduces the distance the bar has to travel on dead lifts

Unless working out is your job, why not just reduce the weight?

They work very well for me. I tried running barefoot but a rock here or there isn't as fun, so I started using those almost a decade ago. I get the all around trainers. You already really know the benefits since you've lifted barefoot. Big difference. These give just a slight protection. I'll never go back to the cushioned shoes.

Really they feel weird for one or two wears and then it just feels normal.

When you are in the gym it's easy to let your ego get the best of you. It's why form breaks down and people do other dumb stuff.

Just buy some lifters for squats. They're hard and flat. I don't understand the issue here.

What benefits are there to not wearing shoes?

Better on putting the most force to the floor and stability. I actually have some cheap Walmart and 1s that are flat and no cushion. They have been great.
