Aborted takeoffs

Who's had one before? Start going down runway at full speed then immediately come to a stop. First and only one for me just now on ATL-BTR, engine overheated... Been a fun day trying to get back from europe to LA, boss said he'd pick up my bag from baggage claim thankfully

I've only had an aborted landing. We were about 200 feet from the ground at MSY and pilots lost visual of the runway due to fog. The thrust up and back was fun.

1 aborted takeoff- 1998 Dubuque to Rockford IL. I was 17 traveling by myself on Mesaba airlines prop jet. I may have needed to change drawers.
This year I have had 2 aborted landings.
1) ATL-MSY... coming in to land... I make that flight at least twice a week and felt we were a touch high... nose up and gun it... pilot says we were gonna be long so we decided to swing around
2) No kidding 2 flights later... ATL-DCA... Potomac approach from NW... nose up and hard bank... not the Potomac approach bank for those who know the approach. We were told to clear airspace by Air Force one taking off. This one wasn't too close but was a clear oh shite.

Only aborted landing for me also. I was rather hungover on an ATL->MSY (coming from Montego Bay) and have no idea of the reason. I recall seeing the familiar surroundings of MSY and then quickly doing my damndest to hold everything in as quickly went back up. We circled for what seemed like forever and then finally landed with no issues.

In 400 or so segments the last 6.5 years, plus probably another 100 in the 25 years before that, I've never had an aborted takeoff or landing. My dad has probably 50 flights in his life, and he's had 3 (all aborted landings I believe) that he's told me about. Weird how that works.
I'd be happy not having any.

Aborted takeoff at JFK a couple of years ago. Early flight out on jetBlue. Engines were humming and we were moving until the pilots put the brakes on. Evidently another plane crossed our runway on accident, which caused the brakes to be applied, which caused us to head back to the terminal to have the brakes inspected. Our luck of being first for takeoff pushed us right back to the end of the line.

Cuse, sorry for your shiteé travel day. To Better Days, mon frere.
No aborted takeoffs but an aborted landing at National (now Reagan) in the '80s, not long after the Air Florida crash. I don't even remember which carrier but I was conscious of the Potomac and everything else down there. We circled around and the second approach went fine.

One go around as a passenger coming into LGA on RWY 22, the over water approach. Capt. came on the PA and said another aircraft entered the runway as we were on final.
Another go around on Aeromexico from CUN to MSY. Pilot never said why. We just circled Lake Pontchatrain for about 30 minutes.
Luckily, as a pilot, I haven't had to experience either besides practice and simulations.

Couple of aborted landings - one at old Denver airport. Really hot day, updraft from the runway held the plane up, still airborne about halfway down the runway. Pilot powered the engine and went around to try again.
One aborted takeoff. DFW to Lafayette in twin engine turboprop. Raining hard. Plane got in line to takeoff and one passenger started screaming that he wanted out of the plane. Went back to terminal and let him off.

Last year, DFW to O'Hare the week before our game in Green Bay. Began takeoff roll and almost immediately powered back/stopped. Pilot said a circuit breaker popped, probably no big deal but wasn't going to attempt the takeoff. Reset the breaker, spent a few minutes checking things out, and then took off with no problems.

No lie, one of my Singapore Airlines flights had their engine catch on fire as we were taking off from IAH.
I was able to get the flight attendants attention and mid-way through acceleration, they stopped the plane and had the tow truck tow us back to the gate Rescheduled for the next day and I got some death glares haha

Years ago on a landing in the DR. Landing gear hits the runway, then plane then bounces back up 20 - 30 ft before landing more smoothly probably 5 seconds later. Definitely freaked everyone out and glad it was apparently a long runway.

Never an aborted takeoff.
Mid 90s, flying in a prop into Hattiesburg on Northwest one night, couldn't have been more than a couple of hundred feet off the ground, runway lights go completely dark. Just poof. About 10 seconds later, they came back on again, but pilot was like, nope, pulled up, went around, landed about 20 min later with no incident.
About 5 years ago, was on a delta flight ATL-MSY late at night and, to this day I don't know what happened, but we circled MSY 8 times before we landed.
