Finaihed H:ZD last night, and started playing NieR. Made it through the first level. I'm not sure how I feel about all the crazy camera shifts. Maybe I'm just not used to it yet. The whole game is just very different feeling to me. Made it to what I assume is the first boss, and got wrecked by some buzz saws. And then it had me start all over.
I'll give it another go tonight. Need to learn the controls! Not much of a tutorial.

When in doubt, spam dodge (R2). Just make sure you don't hit it too early for the first dodge or you'll frick up and die, if you're playing on hard.

It'll take you a bit to get used to. Once you keep practicing, it'll feel more natural. If you hit the down arrow on the d-pad, you'll open up the item menu. You can heal yourself there.

Mash R2 if you get in trouble. If you're playing on Hard, put it on normal for the boss and switch back afterwards
You will love the dual stick segments with the camera shifts after a while. So nostalgic

Should I play it on hard?
ETA: also, I never played the first one... is that a problem?

I would start on Normal. Especially since there's no save point in tutorial.
For not playing the first, some of the homage won't be recognized or missed. You won't miss any plot points because of it though. Game is set thousands of years later.

This game was great. Combat with 9S kind of sucks until you realize the spear charge attack with type 40 is game breaking

Hmmm...spear charge you say?
I've just been hacking a lot with him.

yea he throws the spear across the map, hitting multiple targets and it stun locks everything.
if you chip right, it will crit often.

Cleared Ending B last night. Much like with Ending A, I wasn't quite prepared for it to end. For someone who has played Nier/Drakengard1/3, there is sooooooo many references at the end of Ending B. Excited to start C route soon.

Yea, the spear charge is awesome.
Can charge and throw all the way across the map.

Yea. I wish I had played nier for the 360 just to get a better understanding of the Emil story.

I have had the OST running on my work computer for 2 days now, this is by far some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard in a video game. I just can't get enough of it - also, been doing some side quest lately, this game just rocks.
Thanks for the recommendations guys, I would have never gotten a game like this otherwise!!

I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Persona 5 next.

Correct. Emil story + all of the Project Gestalt notes. Square already reprinting the original in some regions, so I wouldn't be surprised if it makes its way to current platforms in some way.

So, the start to C was completely out of nowhere.
