Asik was livid when we traded for an Israeli. It's disgusting IMO that we capitulated to this jerk who is killing our salary cap.

is that true?

He didn't want be here last time. This time he thought he'd give it a chance and he couldn't last one game without catching the curse. Probably thrilled to get out without anything career threatening.

Dell is the worst GM in the league.

The Kings are just idiots. That shouldn't save his job.

Asik and Casspi were teammates in Houston, correct?

I don't recall there being any issue for the year they were on the same team.

Yeah, seems like they should have cut Thompson instead.

Williams showed last time he was here that he is not an NBA player. Demps is a complete idiot. Casspi is Cousins' good friend and could have been a chip in our corner when it comes time to re-sign Cousins. He also could be a useful player for us after the 4-6 weeks is up (and next season on what is likely to be a cheap contract). We are just being cheap. We should have been looking to waive or settle with QPon who likely will retire anyway.

Straight from Bourbon Street Shots:

quote:

Because he was under contract with the same team for three consecutive seasons, he is a full Bird rights player, and New Orleans can therefore go over the cap to re-sign him this summer if they keep his $5.6 million salary cap hold on the books. As mentioned earlier this week, the strategy that easily makes the most sense this off-season is that the Pelicans will operate over the salary cap (the only way to keep Jrue Holiday), meaning their only free agency avenues to upgrading the roster are retaining their own players, salary cap exceptions, or minimum contracts. Retaining Casspi allows the Pelicans to add another rotation wing player to next season’s team while retaining their ~$8.5 million Mid-Level Exception, for example, to use elsewhere.

Long story short – releasing Casspi in order to get some short-term roster help would be a big mistake long-term, so don't expect him to go anywhere.

dont expect

Damn, wasn't familiar with him before, but thought he looked last night. Hate to see him cut after one game. Seems a little rough.

Only way his Bird Rights matter is if they plan to operate over the cap this summer. I know the smart money is on that, but I wouldn't be so sure.

If they are gonna use cap room, then they would have to waive his Bird Rights anyway. I don't really get the uproar
