Salad with no meat on it or fried shrimp poboy? Come on you know there is a big difference in those two things. Like I said I'm religious as well, and I respect the people that actually abstain from things during Lent. I do hate, however, when some Catholics try to act holier than thou because they give up snapchat for a month and eat a shrimp poboy for lunch and 7 lbs of crawfish for dinner every Friday.

I will be limiting myself to a 6pack on the weekends. This will be very difficult for me.

If they're really acting "holier than thou," then they're kinda missing the point of it too.

But I would argue that in this modern world, abstaining from this or that isn't really a sacrifice, but more of a mental reminder to one's self and an act of discipline. But not a huge sacrifice. And the abstention is only one component of Lent, if someone is truly religious and not just trying to lose weight or something like that.

South LA just happens to have good options. Just following the rules.

I find lent Friday lunches to be a very positive. Everything doesn't have to be super symbology and deep.

Yep. Louisiana turns everything into a party.

Plus we have ready access to good seafood. Some places don't.

So I'm Episcopalian. We just always gave up something and stuck with it throughout the season. But I hear some Catholics talking noise about still doing what they "gave up" on sundays.

And I get tired of my catholic friends whining about having to eat seafood on fridays. Holy frick that's so terrible OMG.
